2 weeks would be way too much time in New Orleans, as much as I adore the place. Maybe split it into 2 cities with some roadtripping in between, like Austin, Houston, San Antonio, or in the other direction, St. Augustine. You could also look at staying on one of the lakes, when we roadtripped through the Gulf a few years ago we stayed one night at a really adorable little cabin somewhere around Baton Rouge, it was lovely. You really don’t need more than a few days or a week maximum in NOLA itself.

Hey! I live in N.O. so of course I think you’ve made a great choice! I haven’t read all the replies, so sry if I’m repeating some suggestions. You should definitely check out the Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone. It is what it sounds like, a working carousel that has been inserted into a gorgeous N.O. hotel and converted into a sit down bar. It’s awesome! You should also check out all the art galleries on Royal Street (hello Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue!). There are always tours available and N.O. has a very rich, diverse history so monopolize on that. I saw that someone mentioned the Steamboat Natchez and the Creole Queen. Those would be a nice day or evening trip. One thing I think is really important to do is ENJOY THE CUISINE! There is nothing like the fresh seafood and spice blends available in N.O. and when I marry in May (and more than likely move out of state) that will be one of the things I will most miss about New Orleans. Whatever you decide to do in N.O. will be a blast I’m sure!
