Is anyone else going here? Our wedding is on the Florida panhandle and we are most likely going here as a cheaper option than the Caribbean. Anyone have hotel recommendations that are less than $200/night but close to bourbon street?

We were just there for my new hubs’ b-day. We stayed at the Roosevelt. It was right at $200 a night thru Orbitz. (VERY swanky place.) Might check online.

A friend of mine went there for their honeymoon and had a great time. I’ve been there alot just on weekend trips and such (i live 3 1/2 hours away). I’ve stayed at alot of different hotels, all on or around burbon, and we got them all at about 200 a night. Nice hotels too. We got them through either orbitz, hotwire, priceline, etc. You just gotta shop around for the best price!

We’ve done a couple of bachelorette parties to New Orleans. It’s a great destination.

I was there for the end of Mardi Gras and stayed at an awesome hotel. It was the Chateau Bourbon (a Wyndham hotel) and I paid something like $120 per night after taxes when I booked online via http://www.hrs.com. I requested a Bourbon facing balcony when I checked in and had a great view of the whole street. The hotel fronts to Canal street and is a very central location, I walked all over the city from there. In addition, there is an in house restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (great lunch specials).
However, if you are planning on staying for a week, I would highly recommend a day trip somewhere outside of downtown because we were quickly bored with everything in walking distance. If you have a car though, I’m sure you will be fine. Also, join the Wyndham rewards club prior to your stay or at check in and you will get free wireless internet and local telephone calls.

The Royal Sonesta is a very nice hotel, and it’s on Bourbon Street. Depending on the time you go, you can get a room there under $200 per night. I would check their rates online and book directly if you can. I really liked staying there.
