I stumbled across WeddingBee sometime in May, and haven’t been able to stop reading since! Although I’ve been following the Bees and many of the boards for a few months now, I’ve been reluctant to post because, well, I’m not engaged! I looooove everything that relates to weddings, but felt a little bit crazy admitting my obsession without a ring on my finger! I’ve been dating my boyfriend for almost 2 years now, and while we are pretty serious we are nowhere near engagement, which is fine by both of us.
I figured it was ok to start posting after the events of last night. I called my boyfriend on my way home from work, and told him that I needed to clean my apartment and do a few things, but that he could come over around 8pm to hang out. Well, when he showed up at my apartment, it was still a disaster and I was still in my work clothes. Of course he was like, "Soooo what have you been doing for the last hour??" And I confessed. I was catching up on WeddingBee!
I quickly rushed to explain why on earth I would be looking at a wedding website. It went something like this…. "Don’t worry – I don’t want a ring anytime soon! I just stumbled across this page and look…Cupcake used the same photographer as our friends and check out how well her pics came out! And Mascara made her own Save-The-Date Cards for only $0.96 a piece! And look at Lab’s bouquet that she MADE HERSELF! And….." You get the idea.
Fortunately, he didn’t freak out. In fact, he thought it was cute that I was so interested in these other women’s lives, and that I would be so well-prepared when it came time to plan my own wedding. So, I took that as a go-ahead to post and become more involved in the community. I’m really looking forward to contributing to this awesome site!

Awww, that’s cute. Mr. Bruschetta sorta shakes his head and smiles when I share stories about other bees — or even readers. But he loves that this community makes me so happy…so he’s supportive of my contributing to it — and sometimes (like during my most recent BeeTV broadcast) even chimes in himself! (We, um, sang a really bad, impromptu duet.)

Aww, that’s such a cute story! I always tell Mr. Star about what happened to Miss so-and-so and he tries to keep everyone straight. It cracks me up 🙂 Welcome!

@Bruschetta – I think it will take a loooong time before he would ever consider singing on a broadcast in front of tons of women! Sounds hilarious though, wish I had caught it!

p.s. – Just realized my pic looks kind of like Mrs. Cheese – should I change it? I picked the name Miss Slice because I pretty much love any food that comes in a slice form – cake, bread, pie, pizza, fruit, cheese…

That is such a cute story….I lurk too, I’ve been dating my boyfriend for about 16 months and we know we will eventually get married however this is our 2nd time around and we have three teenagers between us….15, 16, & 17 and we live an hour apart so it’s not easy as we don’t want to disrupt the kids last years in school. So I may be lurking for a few more years! Mine does not know about my Bee addiction.
Sounds like you found a keeper…we like when our men don’t freak out!
