Hi bees. So I doubt anyone remembers my posts, (it’d be interesting if anyone did!) but my first few posts were about an issue with my engagement ring. The first ring my fiance proposed with had a missing stone and was the wrong size, and was just bleh. We traded it in for another ring at the same store (Zales) and I loved it a lot but the whole head ended up breaking off. I babied that ring so that really shows the quality, but I guess we had it coming since both rings were cheapo’s from a bad store. Well, after that we’ve been researching and I’ve even posted polls and opinion threads on here. I even thought I would get this one pawn shop ring for sure, but I just knew it wasn’t for me. We got the stone, a 6mm classic moissanite from MCo, about a month ago. The stone is beautiful, and I was excited for a bit then. I started looking up rings, but after a while I just got sick of it all. I found a ring and it just came in today. I will see it in person tomorrow and hopefully be able to have it set within the next few days. But, idk I’m not giddy about it anymore. Why! Lol. I attached some excellent HD photos my photographer of a fiance took, so you can see the semi mount. One prong is actually crooked and Idk if that’s gonna be an issue when setting the stone? Herp prease!

Mircat: A crooked prong shouldn’t be an issue. One of my prongs was crooked when my semi-mount came in, and it was easily straightened when the jeweler set it. What is the reason you don’t love it anymore?

beautiful mounting!! The prong shouldn’t be an issue….and good jeweler will fix that. I can understand how you would be bleh about now with the whole ring issue…..you have had some really bad luck! I hope this works out good for you!

It doesn’t look right without a stone in the setting. I always think mounts look kinda silly empty! It will feel more right with a stone

You’ve probably looked at a lot of rings and after having those two bad experiences it left a bitter taste in your mouth, but don’t fret too much. That setting is beautiful and will really look good with your Moissy. Once it’s mounted and on your finger nothing else matters about the past. hugs

Even when you expand the pictures they’re blurry so I can’t say with confidence, but it doesn’t look like the bent prong should be an issue when you get the stone set. They will be bending them then, after all. Wait until you have the stone in and the ring on your figure before you judge it.

I think your hopes have been crushed so many times that it’s clouding this new experience. You found a small jeweler, and now you have to trust that they’ll set the stone correctly. I don’t think they’ll have any problems with the current setting. I think that you’ll be super excited once the ring is completed and on your finger.

Thank you all for the replies! You girls are right, I guess I’m just like this because of the first two. But, third time’s a charm right? Lol. I talked about this with my fiance before and since 3 is “our number” it makes it a bit sweet I guess. I was a bit sketched out when I saw the crooked prong (thinking oh no not this again) but you guys reassured me! I will post better, not-blurry pictures once it is set. Thanks girls 🙂
