So, my Fiance and I were planning to get married in a Catholic church in his hometown, and have our reception at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. But after sitting down and talking through our ceremony, we are thinking that we actually don’t want to get married in the Catholic church. Which means we’d need a new ceremony space.
We booked the Convention Center months ago, so that’s not changing. We may be able to have our ceremony there, but there may be a conflict (waiting to hear back).
Any suggestions for alternate ceremony sites in the Rochester area?? Close to downtown would be a bonus. I already contacted the U of R Interfaith Chapel and Chapel Hill; both are booked.
Help would be much appreciated!!!

@Almost Mrs.P: I am getting married at the interfaith chapel this Spring, I know they have 3 slots a day for wedding times, are they all booked? Other options could be the sunken gardens in Highland Park, when I looked at the convention center they had a pretty area indoors for the ceremony. I cant think of any other places really, we had a really hard time trying to find one because I also did not want the full catholic ceremony!

@riss519: Thanks! Yes, the Interfaith Chapel is fully booked on that day. Bummer!! And the convention center space may be an option, but they have an event in the atrium area earlier in the day so they are trying to figure out timing (because it would be loud if that event were still going on).
I will check out Highland Park– thanks!

Almost Mrs.P –
One very scenic option is the chapel at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. It’s about 10 minutes from your reception site at the Convention Center, has ample parking and could be great for pictures if you don’t have other plans.
The campus was built in the late 1920s/early 1930s in part with some major funding from John D. Rockefeller and is an absolute architectural gem.
Here’s a link to their rental/catering page for more info: http://www.crcds.edu/special-events-catering/catering/rental-fees/
I hope that helps!
