mama2bee71 :  I might be biased, but we had SA issues, and did 3 IUIs uncesesfully. Our 2nd IVF round worked. I believe the sucess rates for IUIs with morph issues are quite low (our RE said about 5-10% per try, getting lower after each try), where IVF is about 50% per try (if no other issues found, no ama). So knowing what I know now, I would not waste time or money on IUIs. Statistically, more likely than not will need IVF with ICSI anyways.

mama2bee71 : yup! After we did the at home test and went to the RE they tested everything. He also had a repeat SA a few months later but I don’t think anything changed- I never got results from that one. Our test results were really bad though, I never quite got into deciphering them but I believe count was only 300k. I’ll attach a pic of his first results so you can see

MargaritaVille :  yeah I’m pretty sure it only measures quantity and kind of just tells you yes it’s lower than Normal or no it’s fine. Im not exactly sure bc DH did the test but he said it was like a science experiment lol. I think if you’re curious and don’t have insurance it’s not a bad place to start. The RE kind of had a look when we told him we did the test and it was low that he expected that was true

I’m getting ready to do my second IUI with SA numbers just somewhat better than your recent number, I think your motility # looks like a problem.  Honestly, it feels like kind of a waste but because I don’t have issues they can do minimal monitoring and the IUI only costs like $600 so we’re going to try one more time, possibly 2 before deciding about IVF.

mama2bee71 :  We did 1 retrieval, fresh transfer that did not take, than frozen cycle that worked. We were “unexplained” – no issues found. DH’s SA was not great (both low count, not great motility and 3% morth), but RE said it was not that bad to completly explain infertility issues, but anytime dealing with male side issues, IVF is much more sucessful than multiple IUIs.
