I only practiced it a few times.  Nothing major.

Yes. I do. A lot. At my job I have to sign a LOT of things, so I want to make sure it’s perfect. I currently hate my signature, so I want this one to be better.

I struggle with whether or not to sign my whole name or first letter last name? or scribble? completely unledigble?

Anyways. I’ve tried lots of variations. Have only sorta found one i like and I can only reproduce it a few times looking how I want it to.

    It never occured to me.

When I went to the DMV to change my Driver’s License they told me to sign with my new name and I was totally thrown off and didn’t know what to do!!!

I’ve practiced a couple of times, but FI’s last name starts with an “E” and I hate my uppercase “E” so I get frustrated and stop pretty quickly. I probably should practice more at some point.

@Aure: Have you tried different styles of uppercase E’s?

@SandyDollHair: I practice all the time too. My penmanship is not the best and I find my FI’s last name hard to work with. My Fiance came across my notebook too. He just laughed and said he thought only High School girls did that stuff.

Recently we had a few friends over and I was discussing this with one of my BM’s who was over. She has amazing penmanship! Once I mentioned it she immediately grabbed a piece of paper and started showing me what her name would look like if her boyfriend and her decided to get married. She made it so that her first initial and possible last initial formed a heart. It was so pretty!

After that she started trying to play with my name and couldn’t figure out a nice way to write it either.

@.twist.: I try but then it just seems forced. Nothing I do looks right. 🙁 I’m sure at some point I’ll think my maiden name looks weird and my E’s will be beautiful, hehe.

@Aure: My first name starts with an “E” and I love how loopy it is in cursive. I would suggest the same as .twist. and practice different variations. I’m fed up with my future last name and might find a cursive font I like and practice it with some tracing paper.

No, I got my new social security card and was like “oh sh*t I need to figure out how I’m going to sign this thing”

Hmm, well, I will not change my signature. Is it weird? Thing is, my signature is my first name. It seems weird for some people but that’s the way it is and I never got trouble with it. So now that I’m going to have different last name (I actually will append my FH’s), I don’t think it’s necessary to change my signature. Once, my FH asked me “how are you going to change your signature?” –I don’t think he’s aware at all how my current looks like– and I grinned and said “But my signature is only my first name and I’m not going to change my first name” 😀 Does this thing happen?

@LGenz: that’s kinda what I did when filling out my new voter registration card… got all excited to fill it out, got to the bottom, and then was like “ummmmmmmmm guess I better figure out how I’m gonna sign things!” lol

I did a few times, but I really didn’t need to that much.  DH’s last name is only 4 letters and is a common word, so I basically write the first letter and draw a line for the rest — pretty easy!
