hi! my name is Ally and I am getting married!!! my fiances family is originally from new york and we want to plan a wedding here to celebrate that. i’ve sort of been checking in but wanted to introdice myself.
Seems easy to find alot of expensive vendors and though i am just starting to figure out the cost of everything i know we done have 125 thousand for a wedding. do you guys know some great vendors who produce a great package but don’t cost a downpayment on a house? it’s just so overwhelming on where to start. there seem to be so many options but i don’t want to get duped by a crappy florist or dj or photog.

I’m not from NYC but I used to live in the Philadelphia area until I moved out to Seattle.
There are a bunch of bees from NYC and I’m sure they will respond soon.
Oh, welcome to the hive!!

Congratulations and welcome!
I’d just cruise the NYC boards for the information you may need. As was posted before, I’m sure ladies from NYC will respond.
Best wishes as you plan your wedding!

Congrats on a NYC wedding!
Check Brooklyn for AMAZING venues. ReBar in DUMBO (Jason; rebarnyc.com) and MyMoon in Williamsburg (Kenan; mymoonnyc.com). Both under $15k for 125 people – a LOT included. DJ Gaza out of Bklyn as well (Rob Kelly by way of Gary, owner). Cake: Karyn Kwok of kakesnyc.com (AWESOME and totally affordable; plus Karyn is a TOTAL sweetheart and her cakes are amazing), also Clores Flowers of Upper Montclair, NJ (Jane is a gem). Our photog is a friend, but he works for Ricky Restaino and is amazing; they’re also out of NYC. Our friend photog with n assist is costing $1k.
My fiance and I are getting married in NYC for under $25k for ~150 people. I CANNOT recommend these vendors enough. Hope this helps.

If your family does not mind driving to Long Island (only about 30mins) from many places in Queens/Brooklyn, I would heartily recomment Coral House. Gorgeous, the price per person is outrageously low, seriously!! And if you do it on a Sunday, KA-CHING!! Pm me for more details.
