PonytailKim: If it helps, here’s a picture of my last progression (note though, that different people have different patterns). It’s a little bit dried out and old now, so the pattern isn’t as obvious, but I had light lines for a full 5 days before getting a positive (the bottom two are clearly positive, the third from the bottom really close). So seeing a light line doesn’t really tell you a whole lot– you could get a blaring positive tomorrow, or you could have to wait another week. Don’t worry about going too overboard with the OPKS– two a day should be sufficient to see a peak. Once you’ve been doing it for a few months, you’ll figure out what’s normal for you (ie. how many days of light lines are typical before a real positive)

NeedPenPaperCoffee: That is super helpful, thank you!!! That makes me feel better. I was getting frustrated because although the faint line I have is not technically positive, it is a whole lot more than what I had a few days ago, so it was discouraging to feel that it didn’t really mean much. Seeing your progression gives me hope of a positive over time.

PonytailKim: I actually got a positive with FMU last cycle! So sometimes I do three a day close to my possible O – FMU, then mid morning and evening. Excessive, yes, but at least the ones I use are cheap!

So I kow the test lines weren’t dark enough, but after taking one this morning and putting them all up against each other, I think mine was, in fact, yesterday. Am I wrong?
And if I did miss the mark, don’t I still have a chance having BD’d the night of the 27th?
Ugh. I’ll get better at this, I suppose.
I also feel like the lines are darker IRL, but I could be crazy.

PonytailKim: I’d wait and see if it gets darker– test once or twice a day and try to BD every few days. Sorry it’s so frustrating! Are you temping? That can really help clear things up when you’re not getting clear OPKS.

PonytailKim: None of those look close to positive to me, sorry. Similar to PPs, my OPKs will show a faint second line for days and then suddenly turn positive. The one cycle where I never saw a positive, my near positive was much darker than the lines in your pics. FX you see a +OPK soon!!

NeedPenPaperCoffee: I am not temping yet, no. This is all so new to me and i don’t really know much about reading charts. Thanks for the encouragement.
LittleRiver: That gives me hope that I haven’t missed it then! I was nervous because yesterday morning’s was darker than the others. Thanks for the positive vibes. 🙂

You will know when it’s positive. I was like you have on my first two cycles. I test and kept thinking it was close enough or happened in between tests – even though I was testing a lot. My third cycle we kept bding everyday and finally on cd 17 (I have 28 day regular cycles) got a true positive opk. 10 days later I had my first bfp. Good luck!
