- Wedding: June 2015
I’m new to Wedding Bee!
My boyfriend and I decided to get married this June through what works for both our families. We’ve been shooting ideas around and decided to get married Friday, June 12th! Over the weekend, I booked a venue for the wedding reception and the chapel for the ceremony.
It feels so surreal- partly because he hasn’t officially proposed. First of all, he doesn’t have a ring. Secondly, he wants to have an inperson talk with my parents to talk about some personal things and then ask for their blessing. My parents know I’m planning a wedding and are over joyed. I know the reasons why he’s waiting, just it’s been really hard emotionally to be talking to caterers and venues without it being “official.” No one in my family understands why we’re so backwards, in fact his sisters-in-law joked they’ll get him on a ring. I’m trying to have a good attitude. I joked with him right now I have the beginnings of an awesome wedding, but I’m not pinned down on the groom- so if I get a better offer I’m free to choose. Is anyone else in this boat? How do you handle it?
Also, with a Friday wedding (we really are set on the day), would it be better to do a sit-down dinner or just appetizers and dessert? Our ideas right now are either a 5:30 ceremony with 6:30 dinner reception, or a 6:30 ceremony and 7:30 snack and dessert reception. Our ceremony is going to be on the Air Force Base chapel in town, which requires extra security clearance for the guests. For those that don’t want to have to provide their SSN#, Driver’s License #, etc. they can swing by the off base reception. So that’s why the 5:30 ceremony might work- we’re expecting less people.
Anywho, please give me your feedback! Thanks!
