Bump is when no one replies so you want to “bump” it back up onto the boards to see if it’ll get some attention and replies.

I believe they are just bringing the post back up to the top of the post listings. So they are “bumping” it back to the top by having a recent reply.

It means that the original poster wants their pst to show up on the top of the boards so more people see it. Its a way to get more people to read their post and hopefully get more comments on it.

You should also check out the wiki section, it has a TON of helpful info on there about the site.

Yep! the posts are organized with the last-replied-to ones at the top. So if you have a question and no one is responding to you for so long that you’re no longer on the first page of the board, sometimes people will post on their own again to “bump” it back up to the top and make sure more people see it.

Technically it is kind of bad form to do it a lot… but generally it is okay if you don’t do it on every thread, or if you just do it for a different time of day. Like 9-5 is the most busy time around here so if you post something in the evening and it gets very few replies, sometimes it is a good idea to bump it in the AM to get the morning crowd’s attention. 🙂
