- Wedding: August 2011
Hello Bees!!!
Let me start off by saying Im super late with my introduction! My apologeeeze!! So lets get straight to it. My name is Shavonda and my lovie’s name is Naomi. We are getting married on Aug 25, 2011 in Sacramento CA. We have technically been engaged since October 08 but when Prop 8 passed the very next month we deciced we didnt want to settle for a “partnership” so we were gonna stick it out and wait for true legal marriage. During the waiting period life happened, of course! We bought a house…our children were getting older by the day…etc. We really took a step back and realized that we have a lot to loose if we have no legal protections set in place for us. So in Janurary 2009 we decided we were no longer going to let society dictate who we are and what our relationship is so we set the date and have been in wedding planning mode since. Fast forward 16 months and we are down to the 60 day countdown. I cant believe that by summers end Ill be the wife of the most amazing woman on the planet. We are getting married on our 4 yr anniversary surrounded by 60 of our closest friends and family in a trendy midtown art gallery. So now that you’ve been brought up to speed lets get to the good part-PICS.
One of the first decisions we made during the planning process what picking the photographer. Photographry was incredibly important and its absoloutely our splurge item. We had strict criteria and our photographer fit the bill PERFECTLY. The number one criteria across the board for ALL of our vendors is that the HAVE to be LGBT friendly. If we got even the slightest feeling that they werent we turned around and walked out. With that being said our photographer was uber amazing. She captured our love beautifully. She even submitted our pics to soyoureengayged.com and and we were featured back in Apr. On Naomi’s bday to be exact!! They also made a guest appearance on onabyciclebuiltfortwo.blogspot.com as well. Cant wait til Aug. Until then, ENJOY!
So there you have it folks. Oh by the way Shavonda (me) is the more feminine of the two! See ya in the next post.
