I just BARELY started looking at dresses… I love the drop-waist, or even some of the fit and flare (without too much trumpet.) Problem is, I am very pear shaped. I’m a small/medium on top and a large/XL on bottom. Is there any way I can make a dress I like work? Or should I settle for the A-line thats good for my figure…

I’m really pear shaped too (I’m talking 29″ waist out to 43″ hips!) and surprisingly, fit and flare dresses looked the best on me. The A-line dresses didn’t flatter me at all. I bet a drop waist would look good, you never know until you try!

Why not try on as many styles as possible- that’s part of the fun of it, and you may surprise yourself with what works on your body.

What about a dropped waist ball gown to balance out your heavier lower half? That is what I ended up getting. 🙂

I have the same shape and having the same problem finding a dress that fits my body type. Damn my mother for giving me her butt and hips. LOL

Try them on! You never know. I picked mostly a-lines before I went shopping, but once I tried them on I realized I didn’t love the shape. I bought a fit-n-flare/trumpet. And I’m more of an hourglass, but edging towards the pear-side (medium top, large bottom). You never know till you try, and I think it will look good on you!
