Hello fellow bee’s! Over the weekend (January 15th) I got engaged to my best friend! I couldn’t pick a better man for me out of a magazine! We have been together for almost 5 years and have shared so many good and bad days together, we have seen each other at our bests and at each others worsts. He truly is the man of my dreams, and as I sit here teary eyed I’ll start a bit more of our story. Now don’t get your hopes up to be reading about an extravagant proposal because well to be honest we’re definitely not extravagant, the proposal was nothing special. I was actually looking at rings online and showing him what kind I liked (because lately we had been talking about just getting hitched!) and as he was next to me looking at all of the different styles online, I didn’t realize he was already down on one knee, telling me he loved me so much and asking me the big question! Of course my initial reaction was “What’re you doing?!” We had JUST started looking at the different styles together and he was down on one knee!! I didn’t believe him at all until he pulled out a ring from his pocket, then of course I say “YES!” and immediately started balling. The ring he got me is my temporary one until my actual one comes in from being made, my mom gave him my grandmother’s diamonds to get me one made! When that comes in I will post a picture!
When I got back to work on Monday it was time to do some research, probably not the BEST time to start because you kind of get slightly consumed into wedding stuff but hey we were slow that day so I figured I would google a couple of wedding sites. I’ve never been the type of girl that had the amazing dreams about her wedding, sure I have thought about it from time to time but I never wanted a huge extravagant day. I planned to have a destination wedding and go to the beach with our immediate family. But after checking out a few websites, I have come to the conclusion that this is going to be the first day of the rest of our lives and we should probably share it with all of our family and friends. Then I thought well while they’re are going to be more people there we might as well make it beautiful, right? So here I am, blogging (which I NEVER thought I would do) about my wedding! Since it’s only been four days since we got engaged things will probably change from now until the “big day” but as of now it looks like I have A LOT of work to do from here until next October, oh which is what we are thinking about doing (Oct. 6th 2012)! I want to have a rustic/southern/country style wedding and I think it’s absolutely beautiful here in Upstate NY in the fall! I have not chose colors or even if I want to have bridesmaids, we are a very intimate couple so we might even just do a ceremony for our immediate family and then the reception have all of our family and friends come!
So fellow bee’s, now that you have read my little story, any ideas? I know I’m just starting out and new to this whole thing so some of you might think I’m crazy to start planning now but I am a planner and want things to go the right way, so I figured getting a head start would be a smart thing! I look forward to hearing some of your ideas and seeing all of the things you have/want to do on your big day!
