irishbee84 :  Can you clarify the dates of BD/anticipated ovulation and your expected period?  Your LP (luteal phase) should be 14 days. I can’t tell from your post if you thought it was 1 day or 8 days?

late ovulation does not necessarily mean late period.  I would take a pregnancy test since it should show now whether you are pregnant or not.  No one can really say whether you were ovulating or not the first two cycles since you were not temping or using OPKs.  Although since this is your third cycle off the pill, your body could still be adjusting and you might not have a 28 day cycle this time around.

irishbee84 :  It sounds like your cycles are not regular yet. Just because you had 1 normal cycle off BC doesnt mean the rest will be like that. If you got a postive OPK that means you should count 13-14 days after the last positive to expect AF. I think you still have like 6-7 days left before AF will arive. Are you using an app or anything?

irishbee84 :  Also, the average length for your LP is 14 days, after ovulation.  While something like 10 to 16 days is average, the base assumption when you first start is 14 days.  OPKs don’t tell you the exact moment of ovulation – they tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate, and you typically ovulate (presuming you do) within something like 24 – 48 hours of a positive.

So, if you had a positive on June 3rd, you ovulated likely June 4 or 5.  14 days later is June 19 for 14 day LP from the later date, or June 13 at the earlier (earliest?) side.  Even testing on Wednesday means you are only 10 or 11 days post-ovulation, so still pretty early.  Does this make sense?

irishbee84 :  yes, stress can delay ovulation.  If your skin condition is associated with stress (either it flares up in response to stress, or it causes stress) it could easily delay ovulation.

*most* women have something like 12-14 days between ovulation and AF.  You can start testing at CD29 if you’re eager, but if you’d rather just test once per cycle I’d wait until CD 33+.

irishbee84 :  I actually tested positive at the doctors at 9 PO but that is not common.  If you google it, there are some charts out there that list when women got a positive test.  I can’t remember the 9 PO number but it isn’t high.  Also, if you tested in the evening your urine is likely diluted – at 9PO its going to be a super squinter so you want to have it as concentrated as possible.
