I am in the market for a new car. I currently own a 2002 Subaru Imprezza Sport Wagon that I love dearly, but it’s time for an upgrade. My husband and I are looking for an AWD family vehicle. I have narrowed down my selection to 4 cross-over/suv’s: Honda CRV, Hyundai Santa Fe, Subaru Forester, and Subaru Outback. Does anyone have experience with the pre-mentioned vehicles? What do you like? What do you dislike? I just can’t decide, as they are all great vehicles and IMO very comparable.

THe Honda CRV will not quit, as long as you keep it maintained. My mom has a 97, the first year it came out, with over 300,000 miles on it, and she drives through Baltimore city’s terrible roads every day for work, so it gets beat up. My husband does all the maintenance on it.
You can’t go wrong with a Subaru, as you know. Probably don’t need to elaborate there.
A few years ago, I woudl say no to a Hyundai or Kia. But now, they are actually really well made, for the amount of money you would spend.
If it were me, I woudl go with the Honda or Subaru. I guess if you don’t have a mechanic as a husband like i do, maybe cost of maintenance upkeep would factor into that?

I know you didn’t list this but I suggest the Subaru Tribeca. I have one and LOVE it! You get the great reliabilty of a Subaru, great warranty and its such a pleasure to drive.

All of yours were on my list when I started car shopping in fall 2010. I ended up with a Toyota Venza because it offered better handling, a quieter ride, and more rear seat legroom than all of the above options.
