I will be the first to admit that I tend to like expensive things, especially clothes, but is it really worth a down payment on a house for a one night dress? It comes as no surprise that I fell in love with $3,500 dress that doesn’t fit into my 10k budget. So why not buy used? I’ve seen so many people turn their noses up at thrifty brides that spend a fraction of the sticker price for a dress that has been worn once. I just want to know why people think that a used dress is taboo. Or, if you are “pro-used” or bought a used dress, please share your opinions and reactions from others.

As long as it is in awesome condition and well cleaned I don’t see why not!

I would buy new, used, or sample. If you love a dress, then you love the dress and try to get it any way you can. I have bought a few samples for more formal dresses from a sample site, and I wish I had seen it before the wedding.

I have no problem with buying a used dress. The only reason I didn’t for mine was because I couldn’t find it in my size.

I personally bought a new dress, but only because I couldn’t find that style used and in my size. Otherwise I definitely would’ve considered buying used. I shopped at consignment shops for dresses too. Once it’s cleaned nobody will know and it’s a great money saver.

I bought used and it saved me a LOT of money because it does not need very many alterations. It was professionally cleaned and I looked until I found the exact dress I wanted. The one downside to used is it requires a lot more legwork on your end because you need to find a dress that is the right size and style. And you need to ask a lot of questions to make sure the dress will arrive as described and isn’t ripped/stained/torn or a replica.
