Hi Bees! While I feel as though I’ve been “waiting” for quite a while now, I’m new to the board. It’s so nice to know I’m not along in the waiting rollercoaster!
A little bit of background on me/us: I’m 25 & Boyfriend or Best Friend is 31. We’ve been together for a little over 2 years, and moved in together in January of this year. Everything is going great with us. Before we moved in together, we had a lot of conversations about what moving in together meant for us. Both of us agreed that it meant marriage/I want to be with this person forever. Boyfriend or Best Friend said then he could see us getting engaged around our 3 year anniversary (next March) and that he wanted the proposal to be a surprise. While I am on board with that, I’d like to have some indication that it’s at least on his mind & have some say into my ring, so he did agree that we could go ring shopping together.
Those conversations took place in December, and since then, we’ve moved in together & Boyfriend or Best Friend has been working like crazy and studying for a HUGE test (which is in two weeks – finally!). He had once mentioned going ring shopping after his test is over, but over the last few months, all timeline talk has been completely non-existent. He does say things about wanting to marry me/be with me for a long time/have kids together, but it’s all very general. Part of me thinks he’s just wrapped up in his test and once it’s over getting engaged will be more of a focus, but part of me is nervous that he forgot/I’m going to have to bring it up. I’ve been doing a REALLY good job of not talking engagement/future/wedding stuff, because I know he does not respond well to pressure (and my little sister recently got engaged, so keeping quiet is tough!). However, I do just want to know that we’re still on the same page timeline wise. Ugh – this waiting process is not easy!
Just venting/letting off a little steam – any advice/commiseration is appreciated. 🙂
