I like having an excuse to dress up on NYE, so I don’t see a problem. If it was going to be a really lame party, I’d just skip it for other plans.

I think lots of people like having a party planned for NYE! It can be such a pain to come up with something to do that night, since you KNOW you have to do something exciting. I went to a NYE wedding a few years ago and it was amaaaaazing. Just make sure there’s plenty of food and booze and everyone will be happy 🙂

We always go out for NYE so if it’s going to be a good party then yay we have our plans for NYE.  If it’s going to be lame, we might drop by for a drink or two to congratulate the couple and then go out for the real partying.

@MusicLove716:  I wouldn’t want to spend my new year’s eve celebrating someone else’s engagement. Holidays are for family. At least for me.

Yeah, I think it’s annoying. Not rude necessarily, but as the b/g, I would expect a lot of people to not be able to make it if I had a NYE engagment party.
