I had a new years eve wedding . We had the wedding a meal and some social time but finished about 8 or 9 . this ment people could go do what they wanted with the night. we dont drink but we went in to the city to watch fire works and bring in the new year . All in our wedding stuff( i had a full on ball gown style dress). It was a lot of fun . lots of people wished us a new year and a happy married life. our guests were intived tocome to town with us or do their own thing. a new year a new adventure

Honestly, it would depend on the person for me. A close family member (sibling, sibling-in-law, parent, parent-in-law, child) or a close friend (I can count who I consider in this category on one hand) – yes, I am 99% certain I would attend. An extended family member (aunts, uncles, cousins) or a less close friend (this group of people is much larger) – I think I would attend if I was able (meaning little travel, I wasn’t planning to be away for NYE, etc). A distant family member or an acquaintance (coworkers, etc) – no, I would probably decline in order to spend the evening with others who I am closer with.

Some things to be aware of when planning a NYE wedding – a lot of people (in my social circle, at least) go away, so they may have overseas holidays booked well in advance; and expect people to decline if they cannot bring their significant other (no one wants to open the new year alone).

inlovewithlibra:  I’m still really sad about it. I wanted to keep with it since he proposed on NYE and I wanted a winter wedding so what better time. Everyone’s like oooh people have plans blah blah blah, and guess what the majority of the people complaining did this NYE, NOTHING!!!!!! Like wtf!?!

But I am just going with something a little earlier and not comprimising on anything else lol.
