Hi Welcome to the December boards.

We are also doing a NYE wedding and we are going longer than you believe it or not. Ceremony at 8/8:30, followed by 1.5 hours of cocktail and reception will end at 2.  Our room has a wall of glass which faces where the fireworks are in the city so we will do the countdown at midnight, followed by the fireworks show and then party until 2am. I don’t think your reception is  too long.

We decided to do ceremony/reception at a hotel so we won’t have to worry about transportation, otherwise, I definitely think it is a nice alternative to offer transportation, especially on NYE.

Congratulations and be sure to pop in and keep us posted on your big day!

hi! we’re having a nye wedding too! but, like farfromordinarybride, ours is at a hotel as well and several people have already said they’ll be staying at the hotel that night.

as for the length, i think we’re having a really long day. our ceremony is at 2pm (super early, i know – but that’s the only time the church would do a wedding b/c they hold a 6pm mass in celebration of the new year), cocktail hour will begin at about 6 or 7 followed by dinner and dancing. we’re doing the countdown as well – the ballroom of the hotel is on the 17th floor and has floor to ceiling windows all around, so we’ll get to see the fireworks at midnight – and then we have the ballroom for an additional hour after midnight (hotel policy is no more partying after 1am, boo! lol, jk.). all of that to say that i don’t think your reception is tooo long.

does the hotel you’re going to afterwards have a shuttle service (like to the airport or to/from area attractions)? maybe (for a small fee) you can coordinate with them to come pick y’all up and take you back to the hotel. just an idea…

yes, please do come back and let us know what you’ve decided.

Hello! We are also planning a New Years Eve wedding. Our ceremony location is 30 minutes away from the reception, which I HATE – unfortunately the church has a lot of sentimental meaning to Fiance, and there is not a real reception venue in that town.

Our reception is at a private estate with a fabulous marble ballroom.  It sits on 19 acres, and has 16 guest rooms.  There are hotels very close to the reception, so we are looking into shuttles or something for that.

We are inviting 385.

@sapphirebride-Congratulations on finding your venue! That’s great that you’ll be able to stay later and see the fireworks!

Lindsay-your venue sounds beautiful. 385 wow, now that is a party!

We’re considering a New Year’s Eve wedding and it would likely start pretty late (by wedding industry standards).  I was thinking 8 or 9 pm.  Then we’d have a cocktail reception and do the typical New Year’s Eve party things.  We’re not sure of venue yet.  But I have some ideas I’ll share once I have that ring on my left finger.  EIGHT more days til Xmas.  I cannot wait to finally have it!  Congrats to you ladies and your engagement and wedding planning.

Awwww, FutureBarton, that is a fabulous day and time.  You’re becoming One on 1-1-11 at 1.  Very cute.

I’m the eve of NYE wedding lol! I can probably push it back to the 31st without a monetary penalty because of the time of the wedding, but that means my guests would be up too long and couldn’t really celebrate NYE lol!! I suppose I can talk to M about it and see what he thinks… LOL!!!
