I would totally be there!! I am so lame and never do anything on NYE anyway (I think it’s totally overrated!)  I would be so pumped to actually have something fun to do, and free booze…..I’m all over it!!!

I would absolutely go to a NYE wedding like the one you described! It sounds like it would be a blast and so much fun to ring in the new year with the newlyweds! 😀

I went to one a few years ago. It was a great time, it started much later than a wedding normally does – I ceremony started at 8:30 pm, cocktail hour from 9-10, then dinner and dancing from 10 pm – 2 am.

Well I hope people enjoy my NYE wedding.

The ceremony is at 530, reception starts immediately after (same location) and goes until 1230. so lots of drinking and dancing will be happening. We are doing a shuttle for our guests too so no drinking and driving!

Sounds fun!  I agree…maybe push back the ceremony a little bit so people aren’t drunk and ready for bed by midnight (which is what happens to me if I go to a reception at 6 or 7 and start drinking at that time) if you are having the reception until 1 am.  Could you have the ceremony at 7:00?

We attended my cousin’s NYE wedding last year and it was a great time!

@BrookieCookie9:  we are ‘everything’ twins except my date is 12 months later! 5.30pm ceremony, followed by cocktail hour, dinner + dancing

Now to figure out whether we will have a balloon drop or a confetti machine…

We’re going to one this year and I’m not thrilled.  If it was closer friends I’d be less blah about it, probably, so maybe it has more to do with the people than the date, but where I’d be looking forward to it any other day of the year, I’m just bummed that we have to miss New Year’s with our close friends to go.

It reaaaaally depends where it is. If it was in my town–fun! If I have to travel: boo for taking up my holiday!

@Nic01:  Totally book the confetti machine now if you are going to. I of course waited until last month and thought- hey I want to rent a confetti machine and of course the company didnt have any (I called that fun fetti company). They said they have machine’s booked for next NYE too.

You can message me if you have any questions, I know I emailed NYE brides from 2011 about when they sent invites out, etc.

Oh and you can always buy my stuff from my wedding 😉 I bought stuff last year for 200 people and only 100 are coming. So i have way to much of everything- favors (NYE hats/horns) and of linens (black).

    Happy planning!

    I would love it!

I’m not sure about everyone else but I hate NYE with a passion. It’s always so over rated! It’s impossible to get cabs, everywhere is crazy busy, fights, piss heads everywhere – blagh not fun.

A wedding on New Years would be awesome.

I personally HATE NYE so I would be happy with an invite to a NYE wedding!

However, I know some couples who have done this and it’s really been 50/50 with people liking it. A big complaint was that it’s like “taking away a holiday” for people and it’s a pain getting cabs, etc. Also, flights are pricey if someone has to fly in from out of town.

I think if it’s what you want to do then go for it! Just be prepared to maybe not get as many RSVP’s as you would like.
