(Closed) New Years Eve Wedding OPINIONS!

  • poll: Would you go to a New Years Eve Wedding?

Absolutely, I'm looking for something fun to do anyway!

Never, I already have my plans that I don't like to change.

Only for an immediate family member or close friend.

I'd go, but I wouldn't necessarily be happy about it.

It really just depends on who's wedding it is.

I don't really care either way.

For me it depends who it is. If it was a wedding of a second cousin who I see only on special occasions, I would not be happy about it and probably wouldn’t attend. If it was a close friend, I would like it because everyone I would usually spend New Years with would be there anyways.

I would LOVE to go to a NYE wedding (in fact I wanted to plan one, but it didn’t work for international family members who we wanted to attend)…I would definitely want a Save the Date way in advance though, since sometimes I do make NYE plans (and some people even travel) very far in advance so I would want to mark it off on my calendar before booking something else ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d prefer not to, unless it was one of the group of friends we normally spend NYE with. We’re actually supposed to go to FI’s uncle’s “wedding” (and by that I mean he actually got married last year, but she “doesn’t remember it,” so they’re having a wedding this year) on NYE and we really don’t want to. (They’re just going to divorce in a couple of years and no one likes her.)

I wanted a NYE wedding because of the sheer fabulousness of it!  I thought it would be awesome to celebrate our anniversary every year on NYE because it would always be a big deal and it would make us go out and actually do something.  Unfortunately, we are major travelers and knew we wanted a destination wedding.  It would be super expensive to travel for NYE and it’s so close to Christmas people may not have the money to do so.  If you don’t have many guests that have to fly in, I would say go for it.  I think it’s an amazing idea!

@BrookieCookie9:  Thank you for the tip, this afternoon will be devoted to confetti machines.

Thank you for the offer with help.. i will def keep that in mind. I’ve been engaged since March, so now that we are FINALLY hitting the 12 months time it becomes real.

I will be looking for favors / hats / horns after this new years (hopefully in sales) but I’m assuming you live in the US so postage to Australia may be a little pricey!

it sounds like fun but just remember that your anniversary will be the eve every year!  my friend and her bf is dating and their anniversary is the eve and although it’s special they kinda wish they could spend the eve with friends sometimes instead of just the two of them. ๐Ÿ™‚  just a little food for thought.

@laurel946:  I would definetly go for that! I found that people were more upset about the no kids wedding than it being on NYE. Which, I feel like a NYE wedding was not appropaite to have little kids at.

@Nic01:  Ha, yea that would probably be a little pricey. I will definetly do a recap when I get pictures back (which my photographer promised before Feb which is awesome)
