@ChitownAtty:  You rock! Seriously, it sounds like so much fun! I don’t have any ideas but I wish you good luck!

@ChitownAtty:  You are brave. I personally would not host my wedding on.near a major holiday or celebratory day because I would be worried about people’s plans to spend time with their families. But if it works for you two, that’s great.

I honestly do not have too many ideas, other than you can probably get some good deals/discounts on decorations in the next few weeks if you want to theme it around winter/new years because sales will happen in early January.

Good luck.

It doesn’t hurt to have your showers a bit early — late October or early November would be totally okay! As for your rehearsal dinner, it would depend on how many Out of Town people need to be there. You could get away with doing it the Sunday beforehand if you didn’t have a ton of Out of Town people. Otherwise, the night before should work.

I’m finding some of these awesome inspiration photos on Google:

P.S. I’d personally LOVE to go to an NYE wedding! Can I come? πŸ˜‰

I really wanted to do this but the timing ended up not being great for us. I did give it a lot of thought though. My main concern was vendors and venues charging more becuase it’s a holiday, or even finding a venue at all. Especially a big city like Chicago may have all the hotel ballrooms booked up for their own parties.

Other than that I thought it would be awesome. Yes it’s a holiday but NYE is usually so anticlimactic. I would be thrilled to have a big wedding party to attend. Plus I think most people get Jan 1 off work.

And you can buy a white sequin reception dress and put your BMs in black sequin dresses! Haha, sorry I planned half of this wedding in my head before going a different route πŸ™‚

@houstonwhodat:  No NYE party I’ve ever been to has been as awesome as a NYE wedding could be! I just love all of the possibilities!

Ya I was thinking about this as well. I saw a gorgeous colours palet on perfect palet for new years eve.. i think it was golds, black, ivory, champagne…

Or you could do a masquerade theme.

Def have lotts of drinks – preferabley open bar for NYE, noise blowers and hats!

You could use clocks/time peices in centerpieces, or gold, sparkly christmas balls.

Def book the confetti machine early!

So fun!  We had our wedding on 12/31/11 in Lake Geneva (about 90 miles north of Chicago) and people loved the idea, though it did fall on a Saturday night.  It seemed that everyone was always looking for a fun plan on New Year’s Eve, and what is better than a wedding??  Spread the word and send save the dates early πŸ™‚

We had our wedding on NYE this year!  It was amazing and a great party!  Everyone loved the idea.  We did Martini glasses for some of our centerpieces, and then a winter wonderland with fake snow on a lot of things.  It was a beautiful night, and I loved it!  We also did a balloon drop at midnight and a champagne pass.  We also had lots of candles and clear christmas lights, our colors were blue, white and silver.  I can’t think of any other ideas, but if I do I’ll let you know!!!  Have an amazing time planning!  Oh yea they sell a lot of wonderful NYE prop packages with hats, blowers and other new years eve things!  Here are a couple of pics from our wedding.

Sorry they are so big.  Hope this helps!
