What is everyone planning to do for New Years? Husband and I are trying to do something with another couple, but things are expensive. We live in Maryland and were debating on going up to Atlantic City. Have any good plans or ideas?

In spite of our best laid plans, we always end up hosting a New Year’s Eve party, and since New Year’s Day is my birthday, it always turns into a kind of kooky, crazy, grown up pajama party with booze and games and birthday cake at midnight…it may not be glamorous, but it’s a good way to start a new year!

@tiffany.k.smith.7: We live in vegas. Darling Husband is 21 and I am not so we might just stay in this year. Some years we go and sit up on his parents roof and watch the fireworks. My bedtime is by 9 most nights. If I stay up later then 9 I get cranky and irritable lol

We’ll be in Tokyo for our honeymoon 😀
If you’re in Maryland and want something fun to do without breaking the bank, they put on a really killer fireworks show at the Inner Harbor. Get a room at The Admiral Fell on Fell’s Point (or their sister property Henderson’s Wharf, also on Fell’s Point, but the Admiral Fell tends to be a little less pricey, especially on New Years), take one of the many fireworks cruises, have a few drinks and enjoy a little getaway without going too far away.

Here in Philly it gets expensive too. With the wedding days away we’re hurting on money. But as our first NYE married I wanted to do something special. He told me he “doesnt wanna be broke”.
There’s a restaurant on the 39th fl of a high rise that does a whole prohibition era inspired event. I wanted to go. Themed performances, burlesque, the whole nine yards with an open bar. PLus perfect view of the fireworks. But the price is now 175/ticket. Needless to say we arent going. =(
My favorite NYE to date was at the camden aquarium. Free parking, party all night and you get to walk around and see the fishies. Plus it sits on the river so it was best view od the fireworks.

@MASPA: All the years I’ve lived in Camden County, I never went to the aquarium for NYE. Now I live in Ocean County and we do nothing. DH believes it’s better to stay at home safe and sound because there are a lot of drunk drivers on the road.
It gets expensive here in Jersey for sure. Cover charges, drink/food packages, etc. The bars are extremely jammed back and not even remotely fun to be in.
I am actually scheduled to work NYE night at the hospital. I asked a co-worker to switch with me, but it looks like she backed out. OH WELLLLL!
