As I cleaned my house yesterday I got to thinking that I haven’t given the house as much TLC as I should. Darling Husband bought the house before he met me, so I have always been working around his stuff. There is no organization to the closets or bookcases, we’ve never painted the still egg shell colored walls, and some rooms have little to no personality. Some of my stuff is still in boxes from when I moved in two years ago!
So my new year’s resolution is basically to make our house a home. I’m not talking major renovation here, just some extra attention. Now that the wedding is past us and I’m finishing school in the summer I feel like I have the time. So I’m busy pinning organization tips on pintrest, thinking about colors for the walls, and considering a monthly budget for home items. I know there’s a ton of resources out there for organizing and decorating on a budget, so I feel like this goal is attainable.

As a rule, I don’t really do “resolutions” BUT I do like to set some goals for myself!
I am still hanging onto more baby weight than I should be (especially considering Dirty Delete is 8 months old haha!) so I want to do a better job eating right and exercising. I want to take better care of myself and become comfortable with my own body again.
I also want to continue to connect more with Darling Husband. Of course our lives and relationship has changed since having the baby, but we have done a pretty good job of going out on baby-free dates and maintaining open communication and intimacy. I want to keep that up, or even do a better job.
I don’t have any specific goals yet, like running another marathon or anything crazy, but I’m sure as time goes on I’ll find specific races I want to do or places I want to go.

@DaneLady: That’s a good way to look at it, setting goals rather than a “resolution.” I think sometimes we force ourselves to come up with something because it’s what you should do this time of year.

@littlemisst08: mine is to keep up with a better skin care routine. I am getting married in september, and I often find myself going to bed with makeup on out of laziness, and waking up with breakouts! I am going to try to stick to a skincare routine so I have perfect skin for the wedding

I would like to make 2014 the best year it can be. My wedding is in May, and there’s also a lot of other big milestones happening in my life: my godson will be 1 in April, my sister graduates college in May, and I’m pretty certain one of my bffs will be getting engaged this year as well. So it’s an exciting time!
As far as something more tangible, I’m going to try my best to stick to a vegan diet for 2014. I’ve been vegetarian for about 10 years now so I think it’s time to pull the trigger. Wish me luck!

- Wedding: September 2013 - B&B
I am also not really a resolution type of person either… I just decide, any time of the year, that something needs to change or happen and then I set a goal. But this year, my Darling Husband is going away for three weeks for Army Reserves training, the last 3 weeks of january. I am going to try to start Insanity during the first part of January, maybe without him knowing?! No clue how I will accomplish that but I will try! And then the three weeks he’s gone keep going.
It’s something I want to do for myself (and he never tells me I am anything but beautiful) but I know he would be super proud of me if I toned up a bit and just did it for me. And maybe lost a pants size? That would be SWELL. Plus the idea of “surprising him” that I did this will help me have motivation to actually DO it, since now another person is involved.
Three weeks really isn’t a lot of time so I don’t expect to see major results, but I don’t really consider myself overweight, I just need to turn some extra “soft spots” into muscle, and while I don’t care what my actual weight number is, I would LOVE to lose at least one pants size, maybe even two! And to see muscle definition. I used to be in SUCH good shape and I miss it!

- Wedding: September 2014 - Banff, Alberta
Going to try a fruit and veggie only diet for a few weeks. Try to lose some weight and tone up. FH is going to work on his listening/remembering skills. He is so bad at it he thinks it might be a mental condition.

Lose 15 lbs! Ive been putting it off and putting it off and now is the time! Its hard to get a good start with all the holiday treats around but the new year its happening dammit!

My goals for 2014 are:
1. Finish my BA. I walked back in 2010, and I had one unit left to finish. Yes, I am THAT PERSON.
2. Apply to grad school. Finally.
3. Lose 35 pounds.
4. Attend church services every Sunday and Bible study every week.
