I live in jerset city but I am gettinf married in the berkshires.however since its half way between bostonandnyc we are working with some nyc based vendors.

for photo assuming you are looking for some one similar to us (v high quality, 2+ shooters, 8hr mini, engagement shoot included) i would budget $5-6000. There are some lower ($4000) and some higher but I think about $5500 is a good baseline

for band….this can really vary…..we got quotes from $4000 (small piano type trio of well know touring musicians) to $10,000+ accomidations for a funk band of about 10p. The band we picked (boston based) is $6500 for 4 hr and 7p 

don’t forget video…thats another $3-5000+ 

no info on flowers yet….that (and ceremony musicuans) are still on the to-do list

For Flowers, I would say it’ll depend on what you want – just bouquets for you + 5 or 6 BMs could be around $1K. If you want centerpieces, it’s usually $75+ per arrangement. If you want a Chuppah, it’s probably another $1K. Some of the florists I talked to also have a 4 or 5K minimum, but my florist is doing everything for me for around $3K. If you want to go more basic and find a florist that will just deliver bouquets and centerpieces (but not decorate or set up), you can probably get one of the guys from Queens for about $1-2K.

Photography will totally range. My package which includes 3 photographers, unlimited photography on day of, unlimited photographs, esession, rehearsal dinner, day after shoot, a hardcover photoalbum, and travel to NYC (they are based in FL) cost about $5K. I talked to some local NYC photogs and they are also around that range, though they don’t include that many perks and usually photoalbums are about $1k (though you can prob make your own for a couple hundred).

Don’t know too much about bands since I’m going with a DJ but average costs for DJs in NYC are about $2K and bands I would say would be $5K + based on what my friends tell me.

I’m getting married at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens this summer! Congratulations, fellow BBG bride! 🙂

Flowers: $11,000 (includes brides and bridesmaids bouquets, altar arrangements and garlands for church, escort card display, half-high and half-low centerpieces for 18 tables and all the misc stuff. like boutonierres and flower girl crowns, rentals, labor and tax.)

Photographer: $5900

DJ: $2000

Photobooth: $1450

Trolley: (for transportation between church and venue) $400

Ceremony musicians: $800

Here’s my budget which I would state is about average.  You may need to add about $1,000-2,000 on the video/photo package and flowers as these are my friends.  

NYC venue – $200 per person  (ASTRA)

Video/photographer – $2500 (mybelovedwedandart.com)

Flowers by Katy – $2,000 (in Spanish Harlem east 116th Street – not having a lot of flowers!)

We’re renting a limo 20 of the guests and I’ll be driving with Bridesmaid or Best Man & Maid/Matron of Honor in a rented cadillac (http://www.chartereverything.com/20_passenger_escalade_limousine.html) this will run about $3000

Table decor & Invites by (me) – about $700

Officient:  $500 – custom (www.marriedbyrudy.com)

Be aware that having a weekday or earlier time on the weekend makes for cost savings.  I’m getting hitched on a Thursday night.

In New Jersey (I know its not the same but NJ likes to think its NYC and tries to charge like its the same place) we had a tough time finding a photographer for under $2500. And we had very basic requirements (unlimited photos with rights). We ended up going with Jason Rhee who starts at about $2000. I got quotes from a lot of photographers who were $3-5k and some who approached $10k (with lots of things included, but still). I really liked Renee Merlino, but Fiance didn’t like her as much as Jason.

Our wedding will end up being 35-40k. We’re only doing bouquets and boutonnieres and it will be a couple hundred. Our DJ (DJ Mystical Michael) is $750 (but most were close to $2000 and plenty were higher than that). I didn’t get quotes for bands because they are generally more expensive than a DJ. Something like 75% of our budget went towards the reception venue, catering, cake, linens, tables, chairs, open bar and valet parking (all through The Manor in West Orange, who I highly recommend as a good value for a formal wedding).

We are paying about $1300 for our photography package in NYC.  It’s remarkably inexpensive.  The company has fantastic reviews and a great portfolio, though. Their online portfolio looks a little weak, but the photos I saw in person when I met with them were fantastic, and the guy who organizes the initial meetings is incredibly nice and polite.  So are the sales people.

I am in Hoboken, right outside NYC so I am using a mix of both NYC and North Jersey vendors. All together, I am coming above $50K but for only 150 guests.

I focused on my three most important items and splurged there and then tried to shop around for things I wrote as my least three unimportant.

Photography I would estimate $4-$5K is about average. (including an album which separately can cost you well over $1K)

Flowers depends on how many people are in your bridal party, what flowers you like and when they are in season.  I had one vendor in NYC who wouldn’t meet with me unless my budget was a minimum of $10K but you can get much less.

I am going with a DJ rather than band.
