For my bachelorette party I am lucky enough to be going to New York City with a mix of my female family and friends. One night we want to get dressed up and go out to a nice bar, we are not so much the dance club sort but would like a place where it could be an option but not a neccessity.
I am open to any suggestions about a place like that or anything else that you guys think would be worthwhile while we are there!!
O yeah and we will be there in late October.

230 Fifth is fun, they are on the top floor of a building on 5th ave and have panoramic views as well as a rooftop bar open all year:

O I love the idea of something rooftop, over here in Newport that would mean the top of a two story house not really the same!!!

Stout is fun… its around 34th and 6th not 100% about the address but its 3 levels, there was karaoke on the lowest level more clubby upstairs… just seemed like it covered all the bases and its nice there

@eseds: I agree, Stout is a good place to go too.
If you are feeling karaoke ther eare TONS of kareoke bars in Korea Town, almost one in every building which can also be fun.
One & One is also fun, sports bar type place upstairs, club feel with DJ downstairs at Nexus Lounge. It’s on 1st ave and 1st street.

Thanks so much, it is so hard to show up in such a big city with no idea where stuff is!

This is kind of a random loungey place but they have live music on Saturday nights and I always have a total blast whenever we got, it’s called Sessions 73 on the Upper East Side…I also like Forum, which is more of a club-type atmosphere but not as obnoxious as a lot of clubs…And B Bar in the East Village is always fun too!

If you like 80s music – the Canal Room has a live 80s cover band every Saturday night – we went for my friend’s bachelorette not long ago and it was a lot of fun

I second 230 5th for great ambience and stunning views. The Park is also not bad – it can get a little crowded but it is HUGE, with lounge areas, restaurant, bar, dancing, etc. Have fun!

I would recommend Hudson Terrace or the Bowery Hotel for great rooftop bar views!

Ava Lounge inside the Dream Hotel is really fun and they also have a rooftop weather permitting. Plus the hotel itself is very cool
