lgeminder:  For photographer, another option is April Ziegler. I have no idea what she charges, but she produces some great work. Website has photo albums. http://www.aprilziegler.com/

This place could be cool for rehearsal dinner. Not sure where they are in terms of price, but they have an outdoor courtyard.

DJ – I suggest Trio Djs – they will work with your budget. I can’t say enough good things about them. in short, they kept my dance floor full all night long! There was never a dull moment. Please ask for Garry. He is a great MC.

Photog/Videog – Le Image Inc. they are located in Dumbo, Bklyn – but Philly is not far from NY so, it might be worth speaking with them. They are extremly affordable! And they do great work. They were so amazing and I can’t stop looking at my wedding pictures.

lgeminder:  Hi Lauren. I’ve heard WONDERFUL things about Front and Palmer! I don’t know anyone that has ever been to a wedding there that hasn’t loved it! And I’ve heard Feast Your Eyes is great with their catering.

As for a photographer, Love Me Do is good. Photographers all have their own style and it might be best to figure out which style you’re interested in. If you’re still considering looking around, I’d recommend you to our photographer, Susan Stripling. She’s been amazing to work with, and her photos are nothing shy of spectacular. I’m pretty sure she also actually was recently married at Front and Palmer!

As for bands…you might be hard pressed to find a really great band for $5K in this area, but I’m sure you could find a phenomenal DJ. Based on my own research looking for a band, most of the bands that we saw that we thought were really worth it were in the $7.5K-$13K range, but you might be able to find a good outlier if you can find a band that suits your style. Lima Bean Riot might be closer to your $5K budget, but I have a feeling they still exceed that.

We’re using the Loews Hotel which is a short distance from Rittenhouse Square (our reception is in Rit Square.) Not only did they offer really competitive pricing, but we’ve had nothing but exceptional service from them. If you decide that you’re interested, I can PM you the name of my contact there! The hotel is beautiful and the bridal suite is huge. Other beautiful hotels in the area are the Hotel Omni and the Hotel Monacco. For a more affordable option, I’ve heard that the Sheraton in Society Hill has some very competitive rates.

Not sure what your budget is for your rehearsal dinner, or how many people the restaurant would need to accommodate, but Talula’s Garden might have the vibe that you’re going for. It’s a Steven Starr restaurant.

Hope this helps! Happy planning from a fellow Philly bride planning from a different city 🙂

Hi there!

I’m getting married outside Philadelphia.  Check out the Loves Jones Band – they were almost 6000, but have amazing reviews and that price includes both ceremony and cocktail hour.  We heard them at a showcase and they were awesome!

As for photographers, we are using John Barone – he’s a bit expensive, but it is well worth it!

I live near F&P, so I have to say good choice on the venue!

For the rehersal dinner, Girard on Girard seems like it might fit your vibe – it’s actually not open yet, but looks like it’ll be awesome, and isn’t too far from your venue. Otherwise, look for BYOB places – one great thing Philly’s got on NYC. There are lots that have top-notch food, and it’ll help keep your costs down as a bonus.

Our photographer is Olya Vysotskaya (http://www.ovysotskaya.com) – she’s actually based in Brooklyn, but came down to Philly to shoot our engagement shoot for no charge. We’ve loved working with her so far, and her work is utterly beautiful. (My photo on here is from our shoot, and I posted some more on my blog, which is linked in the blog thread.)

Re officiants, I’ve heard that the more liberal Catholic churches in Philly are the ones in Old City – Old St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s. That might be a good place to start! If you’re really in a bind, my fiancee is in seminary, so I probably know someone who’d be willing to do an interfaith ceremony – message me if it comes to that 🙂

Hi, I created an account just to tout my DJ to you.  I’m also a NYer getting married at Front and Palmer.  If you are going to go with a DJ, don’t discount bringing your favorite from NY.  That’s what we’re doing.  He is all around awesome and does some high profile events (eg, Central Park Summerstage).  No neon or spiky hair.  PM me if you want some details.

I can’t help with officiants and agree with a PP re: photographer (ie, reflect on what style of photography you want first).  I talked to a couple of very, very talented and nice ones and then we picked based on style.  The others would have been excellent, I’m sure, for the particular style they do.  If you want a couple of recommendations, PM me.

We are also staying at the Loews and have had a great experience so far.  I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you want to be truly close to Rittenhouse Square.  As with photographers, we talked to several hotels, so I can give you some referrals.

Congrats to you and good luck planning!

Hi there! Getting married in Philly in two months – we’re using the Radisson Warwick Hotel, which is a block from Rittenhouse and has reasonable prices. For rehearsal dinners, you could try a BYO like Branzino, which has a back patio area.

I’m using Langdon Photography – they kind of let you create your own package that will fit most budgets. Hope this helps!
