Yes, you all are in my thoughts and prayers tonight as I heard the news of the earthquake.  I am so sorry.

I’m so sorry to hear this.  Christchurch is such a beautiful city with such stunning architecture, and so much of it was already hanging by a thread after last September.

My heart really goes out to all of you in the area – hoping for a quick rebuild for everyone.

I’m thinking of everyone over there in Christchurch & surrounds – to have another quake so devastating after last year’s one is horrible. It’s such a lovely town and it’s so sad to see it in rubble. Keep safe, friends.

It has just been such a shock, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected today.

Unfortunately people are still trapped and although rescuers will be working through the night they said a lot of people would be spending the night trapped.

Why would it happen to the same city twice – it is so unfair.  Everyone was so sure it would happen to Wellington too, nobody thought it would be ChCh once, let along twice.

The newsreader just said there is an unconfirmed chance the death toll will be between 200-400.  She stressed it was unconfirmed but still to say that on the news is a big deal.

Just heard that the death toll now stands at 103 people, with around 220 people still unaccounted for.  The worst disaster to ever hit the country.

Please still keep praying for the people of Christchurch.  5 days later and there are still people trapped.  The death toll is now 123, it was NZ’s darkest day and the worst thing ever to happen to our country in history.

For up to date information http://www.stuff.co.nz is a good webiste.

Now is the sad part, all the stories coming out about experiences of people who have miraculously lived through it, and stories and photos of the brave people who lost their lives.  They are still experiencing aftershocks – some of which are still quite a big size.

It is overwhelming the amount of support from other countries, rescue crews from the US, Australia, UK, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore have flown in and are helping to go through the debris looking for survivors or bodies.
