hayleybee123 :  Hi Hayley, Welcome! I have no advice (I got my hearts and arrows diamond from Samara James) as don’t have any experience with Moissy, but the bees know a lot about them – so fingers crossed you can get some advice! 🙂

Hi! If you’re in the UK I wouldn’t purchase from outside the country. Lily Arkwright is UK-based and is where I bought my loose stone – we took it to a local jeweler for a custom setting. They sell C&C stones. There’s another bee here who got a custom setting made by Lily Arkwright and is pleased with hers too! So definitely check them out.

Hey Hayley,

Another UK moissanite bee here! Just to make you aware, C&C moissanites are made in the US, not birmingham! The jewellery quarter there may stock them, although be careful as some of the online vendors are sellling the old, ‘forever classic’ moissanite which isnt great from a colour point! My e-ring is from C and C direct, so I cant advise on their loose stones, but you should be fine to find a local jeweller that will work with it. In terms of quality of C and C – my forever 1 moissanite is a DEF colour (colourless) and the side stones are GHI (near colourless) but I cant tell the difference! No issues with black spots or anything and I’m in love with it!

I think if you’re going to get a loose stone, you need to see it in person, so wherever you buy it from, make sure they have a sensible returns policy (some charge a restocking fee) and you dont end up paying lots in import duty!

PM me if you need other advice!

hayleybee123 : welcome, Hayley! I don’t know the answer to all your questions but have an idea about a couple. Please see below.

4) H&a is the type of cut not specific to just one stone.. Any moissanite or diamond can have that cut

6) The reasons I can think of for most people preferring round is for tradition / round resembles diamond the most compared to other cuts. Also I think H&a cut can occur only in round? Not 100% sure about that but that’s what I’ve come across till now

Charles and Colvard H&A is a type of Forever One stone.  So it’s really a Forever One Hearts and Arrows moissanite at C&C.  However, there are other moissanite vendors that do a hearts and arrows cut.  H&A is essentially an “ideal” cut when it comes to diamonds, which is why the H&A moissanite is the most diamond-like, as they say.  I can’t help with UK options as I’m in the US, but perhaps you can find an Etsy seller who sets C&C but is located in the UK?  I have no clue, but I have seen lots of bees who aren’t in the US complain that moissanite is harder to get outside the US.

Hi Hayley,

I was in a similar situation to you recently, UK based and unsure which retailor to go with. Moissanite pickings in the UK and EU are pretty sparse. Best options were Very, Debenhams & Lily Arkwright. I contacted all three and eventually opted for Lily Arkwright as they were really personable and answered all my questions without any hassle.

Biggest plus point is their local, produce all thier rings here in the uk and have a no hassle 30 day returns policy. They also UK hallmark all thier rings like any other diamond jewellery and you don’t have to pay and import duty or tax if you were to buy from america or some of the chinese options. They also set charles and colvard forever one d-f in all thier mounts and are an authorised retailer.

On the flip side I don’t think thier as cheap as moiss&co or some of the other chinese and indian based brands, that being said i’ve read some really negative reviews about moiss&co which really put me off.

I did consider buying direct from charles and colvard but they are one of the most expensive options, they do have some lovely petite mounts which are beautiful and i did feel the extra money would have guarenteed quality.

My other half was actually pretty relaxed about costs, he took the view that we were saving a fortune by opting for a moissanite so a few hundred pounds either was wasn’t the end of the world!

In the end i opted for a Giselle 18k white gold from lily arkwright, it has a charles and colvard forever one centre stone and real side stone diamonds. I’m soo nervous/excited about it arriving!

My one piece of advise would be to simply get in touch which each brand and ask as many questions as possible.

J
