Hi there, fellow waiting bees,
I’ve been lurking around the Hive for quite a while now, and I’m loving the vibe of the community, MUCH much better that what I’ve seen at other wedding forums for women who aren’t engaged (one in particular is pretty snarky). It’s so great to know that I’m not the only one waiting eagerly for a proposal!
Little blurb about me: I’m a 24 y.o student finishing up my B.A and working as a CSR part-time. When this degree’s done, I’m heading off to teacher’s college. Besides my “day jobs”, I love photography and want to start an small business doing portraits and nature pictures, and I’m obsessed with butterflies (long story).
A little bit about me and my S.O: We’ve been together since October of 2011, and have been discussing the “w” word for several months now (S.O already knows what he’s doing for the proposal and what the ring will be- just waiting to finance it all). We aren’t living together yet, but I finish paying off my tuition next month, so I suspect we’ll have our own little place by fall; in the meantime, we spend 3-5 nights a week at each other’s places. No pets (yet), and he has a precious 2 y.o son from a previous relationship.
Sorry for the long novel, and I look forward to getting to know all my fellow bees <3

@Papillion: Welcome! Sounds like your waiting is not going to take too too long– that’s fantastic!
I wonder how your SO is doing with the financing of that ring? 😉

That’s the biggest test. He’s in a rough spot financially right now (although he did pick up an extra shift at work tomorrow, so that will help XD). Only working a minimum wage job, and his ex just hit him with papers to get more child support, which would wind up taking up 1/2 of his monthly salary. Still, he’s powering through it, so I have to give him full credit. Thinking he’s going to hold fast to the proposal he planned, and I’m willing to wait for that (he promises over and over again that it’s going to make me cry happy tears ha ha)

@Papillion: Ooooh keeping my fingers crossed for you! Sorry to hear about the financial situation, but the important thing is that you have each other. Not sure if you’re open to this, but there are some great alternatives to the traditional diamond engagement ring. You can search the ring section, or just put up a post to see rings (bees LOVE to post rings ). Welcome and best of luck!
