Agreed with PP, it is dangerous because it causes you to make the straps too loose to accomodate the puffy outfit.  But to answer your question, a 0-3 Month will be fine.  3-6 technically fits a 6 month old.  No baby is born that big!

Along with what PP’s said, baby doesn’t go in a snow suit in the car seat. We use a warm carseat civer and blankets for car rides.

However, to answer your question, my 3 month old 13 lb baby is in her 0-3 snowsuit from the Gap and its still very roomy on her.

I used blankets for my weinter baby to keep her cozy.  The extra fluffy outerwear outfits didnt really work out for me and they arent supposed to be used in car seats.

As for sizes – If you anticpating a large baby get 0-3mo size its larger than newborn sized clothes. 3-6 months would be HUGE on any newborn.

Man, I wish I read this before I delivered LO.  She was measuring at 8 pounds and I thought “no way would NB sizes fit” so I brought 0-3 and 3 mo sizes–they were all too big for her.  She was born 8lbs 1 oz and was in NB outfits for about a month or so.  Congrats!

baletrina:  I would order NB. I too had a 9 pound baby and his coming home outfit was from gap, I ordered 0-3 months thinking NB was going to be too small. To my surprise 0-3 months was too big on him.

Interesting, my 7lb 7oz baby didn’t wear any newborn stuff at all! He was on the long side so maybe that’s why? You can’t go wrong if their clothes are a bit too big anyway. I say 0-3m!

We just switched my six month old to the convertible car seat and navigating the cold weather is a pain in the butt! I guess I’ll just put a hat on him, wrap him up in a blanket, and run him to the car like that? Then the car itself is so cold… I wish we had a garage!

Lol people are hardly being sanctimommies when it comes to your kid’s life. Many people are totally unaware that you aren’t supposed to use coats or those cushy liners in carseats.

My lo was 7 lbs. 8 oz. and she wore newborn for quite a while. I find gap runs pretty true to size whereas Carters runs smaller.

baletrina:  yeah and that’s exactly why we switched! My back is a wreck from hauling that thing around. It was great when he was little but now it’s a hazard. πŸ˜› I don’t know if he’ll fit under my coat but I think I’ll have to give it a try! πŸ˜€

Wishing you a kickass delivery and healthy baby!

She has two other kids already, guys. Do you really think that she made it all the way to kid #3 without someone else sticking their noses in how she dresses her kids in winter?

With my nieces/nephews, we always made sure they had little mittens, little hats, and we usually just draped a big, cozy blanket over the entire car seat. We still do that with the youngest one when dropping him off for babysitting.
