Hi everyone, I’ve been on the site before a bit, but never too seriously because I wasn’t yet engaged…until now!
My boyfriend (now fiance!) proposed to me last week while we were on a trip to Vancouver, Canada. For those of you not familiar with Vancouver, they have a gorgeous park called Stanley Park, kind of like Vancouver’s version of Central Park but a little more woodsey, and right on the water. One of the most famous sites in Stanley Park are these gorgeous, brightly painted totem poles. We were at the totem poles when I walked into the gift shop to buy a drink. While I was inside, he ran up to a random couple and told them he was about to propose to his girlfriend, and could one of them take pictures while the other took video (he was holding onto both his and my camera at the time).
I walked out of the gift shop and he said, “let’s pose here for a picture, here, put your drink down…put your purse down for the picture” (he’s so cute, he didn’t want my (admittedly giant) purse getting in the way while he proposed, haha). We posed for one picture, and right when I thought we were done, he suddenly dropped down to one knee, and proposed! I immediately burst into tears (of joy!), and said yes (of course!).
But the surprises didn’t stop there. Later that night, we went out to dinner to celebrate. He told me he had made reservations at a restaurant, but when we got to the restaurant, he admitted there was one more surprise, and I should just keep walking past the hostess stand and into the restaurant. I walked around the corner, and there was BOTH of our entire families, who had all traveled from California to be with us on our special day. Apparently my fiance had been orchestrating the whole thing for almost six months, and I had no idea.
Sorry for such a long post, I just wanted to say hello and share my story! Excited to be on here with all you fabulous ladies!
I love my sapphire ring, I have always wanted one, and my fiance loves the history and symbolism of sapphires, so we’re excited about it! Sorry it’s so huge.
