Hi girls! Any advice would help… I got engaged in October and don’t know where to start. I bought my first wedding mag and closed it after the the sixth page. I’m thinking a July wedding would be nice but its around the corner. After my fiancé proposed I asked him when he thought we should get married he said “I dunno, 3weeks?” *Straight face* he didn’t know how long weddings take to plan lol. Are wedding planners a good tide a? Are they worth it? I where do I start??

- Congratulations on your engagement!

- HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER!
Only if you’re actually going to get married in 3 weeks. Thats pretty quick and I would start looking into one even if you are potentially looking at getting married next summer. Step one would be finding a venue that suits the needs of your guestlist and “must haves” and step two would be making sure they have an open day. Good luck!

@Fleur.De.Lis: Thank you so much! I’m definitely not getting married in 3 weeks but hoping for a summer wedding. I’m going to interview some wedding planners and hope we could pull it off! fingers crossed 🙂

@Missrm: Congratulations on your engagement! You’re ring is stunning!!!
I think getting a wedding planner depends on how much time you have and your personaity. If you don’t have a lot of time before the wedding, or don’t have a lot of time in your schedule peroid, I would personally get a wedding planner. Also if you are doing the planning from afar, I can see where a wedding planner would be handy. I can’t work and have tons of time, so I love planning, it gives me something to do. But if I was getting married in 7 months and working full time I might want more help. I’m also have a vison of what I want, which helps a lot. Just depends on how you work I think.

@Missrm: congratulations and welcome to the hive. your ring is stunning. a summer wedding is totally doable. (i planned mine in 5 months from another country).
pick up a wedding planner or download one from online. this will give you a breakdown as to what needs to be done and when. you are planning in 7 months so don’t let the items that should have been done already concern you. just work at each of them bit by bit and you will be fine.
i would initially discuss with your new fi what type of wedding you want and how many guests. discuss your vision with each other. pick your colours or theme if you are having one and go from there. where are you getting married? is it available? when is it available? visit venues (researching online prior to visits helps a lot too). when are they available? set your date.
the internet is great for ideas and images.
good luck and happy planning.

Just breathe and enjoy the engagement for a bit longer. Then make a list of wedding tasks and focus on one step at a time. Congrats to you both. Well wishes
