Congrats on your engagement and lovely ring! BUT…Why will it be gone for 20 days??? I’d be pissed and tell them they better make any repairs happen a lot sooner. Mention how many places you can offer them bad publicity starting with this website. Sorry you’re having this experience. I’d put the pressure on them to get it back faster. If it was just a loose center stone it should just be a prong adjustment…less than a day at most.

I don’t have a Neil Lang ring, but I just wanted to say congratulations on your engagement, your ring is lovely.

Kay told me my center stone was loose also and could sent it out. I went to a local jeweler instead and they fixed it in less than 5 minutes! My ring wasn’t from Kay though. Your ring is beautiful and would suck to be without it for so long!

@kukristen:  Congrats on your engagement!! I don’t have a Neil Lane ring but when I was looking at rings I read a lot of reviews about his rings. Apparently the stones fall out pretty easily, especially if you ever get it resized. I even read one review where the couple exchanged the ring for another one (not Neil Lane) because the problem was so bad. I’m sorry I can’t give you any good news but I thought you should that this is a known problem and honestly for the price of his rings, I think it’s ridiculous that the quality isn’t great. It is a very pretty ring though. Again, sorry for being negative nancy :

I got my ring from Kay and a diamond fell out within a week of me wearing it. I haven’t had any problems since though!

I have a Neil Lane and I had a couple little stones fall out when I first got it but it needed sized anyways so that was taken care of. Its been about 10 months now since its been sized and I have not had any problems. 🙂 Its beautiful by the way!! Congrats!

Aw bummer!  I can’t give any advice on the ring itself, but I know when I first got my engagement ring (from a local jeweler), my center stone DID fall out and into the setting.  I asked them if they come put bigger more durable prongs instead of just “resetting it” and they did.  Haven’t had a problem since.  🙂

@kukristen:  first of all, congratulations and welcome to the hive.  your ring is beautiful and it sucks that it’s already in for repairs.  i’ve heard that a lot with certain jewellers.  maybe you can just wear another ring on that finger for the 20 days so it doesn’t feel so bare.

I don’t have a Neil Lane, but I had a diamond fall out of both my engagement ring, and wedding band, from 2 different stores. It’s a result of having the ring sized down so much  (I wear a size 4.25) but after I had both fixed I haven’t had a problem since, so hopefully this is a one-time thing for you also!

My engagement ring is from a small chain store who does all the work in-house so I got that ring back within an hour. The band is from JR Robinson, and they send there’s out for 2 weeks…

Beautiful ring by the way!

I have been given some jewelry from Kay, and I never use them for repairs or sizing or anything where they “send the ring away” – it’s not worth it to me even with their warranty. Kay once ruined a diamond band I had by sizing it improperly (at the bottom of the ring!!) which caused it to crack in half. They did such shoddy work on another ring that I had to take to a master jeweler to correct what they had done to it. I think the benchwork quality varies from Kay to Kay, but I certainly have no faith in my location to do work on anything I own.

Be careful, because your warranty will be voided if they find out you’ve taken it elsewhere for repairs…

Your ring is very pretty and looks great on you, By The Way. Hopefully everything gets fixed up right.
