Thanks, but what confuses me about buying maternity clothes so early is how do you know what size to get….many of us are first time pregnancies and have no idea what to expect. Although I think it’s probably not a bad idea to stock up on some maxi dresses, stretchy pants, and maybe some maternity tops, I would be wary about slacks and jeans until I know what will fit me when I am popping out and late in pregnancy.

This is a tricky thing. My belly didn’t grow alot at first and I was still wearing “regular” shirts well into the late 20’s. Around 20 weeks I did go and buy a few maternity shirts so that if i POPPED like everyone talks about I would have something to wear to work without having to run out that night. Same problem though, I didn’t know what size to really buy and ended up getting a little bigger then needed. All the shirts I bought early on didn’t ever really get worn. Kinda a waste for me, but I know my belly stayed kinda small/not obvious for some time.
I got far more wear out of maternity pants. I did get those around 20 weeks and purchased based on what was comfy then. =)
