Good luck!!   DH & I were lucky to conceive our first cycle NTNP.  Due this Sept!  I actually feel a bit guilty becuase I know there are so many who have a very difficult time.    Anyway,  for what it’s worth,   we BD’d every other day during my fertile week and it apparently worked right away.   Hope its an easy process for you as well.

You may find that a good prenatal vitamin (which I believe most doctors will recommend you start about 3 months before TTC) will help balance the chemicals in your face. I’ve read that good prenatals should help your hair, skin and nails, even moreso if you have any chemical inbalances. I’ve been on them for about 6 months (they helped me with multiple vitamin deficiencies) and we’re going to start TTC in 3 weeks 🙂 Good luck!

Good luck!!!

i was on the pill for +10 years with a 6ish month break at one point. Like you, I had terrible acne and went back on it pretty quickly to alleviate that. My skin never went back to what it was so I went on an additional skin medication. I got off the pill about 8 months before we started TTC but remained on my skin meds until a month or two before we started TTC. Luckily my skin stayed clear until I got pregnant. Blah. Pregnancy skin sucks! At least for me. I’ve heard cutting out dairy and sugar from your diet can help greatly!

I hope you get pregnant quickly and you get that glow people speak of!!!!

Good luck! I had the same thing with my skin and the pill, although I did have bad skin prior too, the pill didn’t work out for other reasons and I had the coil in and went on other medication for my skin which is all cleared up now. You might find it was just your body and hormones leveling out after coming of BC – how long were you off the pill before you started back again? I definatly think having the right prenatals could help with that, and your hormone levels might be different now anyway at this time in your life. Me and hubby started TTC this month, in the dreaded TWW atm but it’s only our first cycle trying so not really expecting anything yet, but hope to hear how you are going over the coming months!

PonytailKim:  good luck to you! I, too, have been on the pill since I was a teenager. When I came off for a period about 3 years ago, my skin was terrible. I did not have a history of acne either. This time, I have been off for three months and not a pimple in sight.

The bad news here is that my doc said it wasn’t neccessary to get off the pill before trying and I would actually be more fertile the first 3 months off the pill and we aren’t pregnant yet. I am afraid the pill has messed with my progesterone levels so I am going to call tomorrow about getting a CD 21 level drawn. I hope you have better beginner’ luck than me!

PonytailKim:  I know exactly where you’re coming from, I never had any skin probs before being on the pill then I started taking it on and off around exam times from age 15 as heavy and painful, properly stared taking it at 17 and have only had the odd gap to see if periods improved so all in all I’ve been taking the pill for 12 years like you I’d experienced skin issues in the gaps but I was told it’s a side effect of coming off. When I came off fully for TTC my skin got bad especially on my back! It does calm down eventually as the chemicals come out if your body but it took a year to go back to normal. Good luck

PonytailKim:  just wanted to say good luck!!  I just stopped BCP end of September ’14. My first cycle was 61 days!!!  We started TTC end of November, my 2nd cycle off BC and got pregnant. I had another long cycle but it would have been around 45 days instead of two months. So don’t be discouraged if your cycles are weird or long after coming off the pill! You can still get a BFP.

And if your sisters are super fertile you better believe you most likely are too!! I felt the same way, that I would have issues getting pregnant…I’m the oldest and have three sisters, they all have kids and had no problem getting pregnant. And sure enough my first cycle trying I got pregnant. For what it’s worth I used OPKs to predict ovulation since I have long cycles and we BD every other day

good luck!!
