this was really helpful!  Thanks for sharing, TandM!

I actually texted my fiance right away to tell him about a pair of shoes I bought this weekend, because we are really tight on our clothing budget.  I have a new job, so it’s been a tough balance, but even when it’s hard, or you’re afraid of getting flak for a decision, honesty is the best policy!

It must take years to get used to sharing money and making decisions together.  I’m young and had only been working for a year before my hubs and I got married, and I’m still having a hard time relinquishing complete control (even though I’ll be the one doing the bookwork for our money, we’ll make decisions together).  It’s hard!

Great link TandM! Thanks 🙂
Finances are a hard thing to start talking about, we started mothes ago trying to figure out what our budget would be, but I’m going to forward this to Mr Frenchie too 🙂

I agree, great article. We decided to join our accounts. It’s a big decision but we both feel it’s the right thing to do for us.

My FH and I also recently joined our accounts. We live together, and all of our bills our shared so it makes sense for us as a couple.

We have had joined accounts for a couple years now even though we just got married.  When we moved in together, with basically one income, it made sense to join everything together.  You really do have to be honest about what you spend though since they have access to the account and can see money going out too!
