A little summary is here: http://news.sciencemag.org/2014/03/newlywed-women-pack-pounds
” The stresses of getting married can do strange things to a woman’s weight, according to new research published in Body Image. Scientists weighed 343 brides-to-be, recruited from bridal expos in South Australia, then followed up a month before the wedding, and again 6 months after they said “I do.” Nearly half the women expressed a desire to shed pounds before the ceremony, but the average weight of the group didn’t change between the expo and the prewedding weigh-ins. However, the participants gained about 2 kg on average in the 6 months after their weddings, and the weight gain was even more dramatic in the 13% of women who reported being pressured by those around them to lose weight for their big day.”
The main result: Women told to lose weight pre-wedding gained significantly more weight post-wedding.
