- Wedding: September 2012
Tim and I got married this past September. We are apartment living North of Buffalo in the Niagara region and have considered ourselves lucky. We both have full time jobs and are not eating Mac N’Cheese or Ramen every night. We enjoy the state parks and the food but…
I am so over the snow!
I guess we never really saw ourselves settling here. We have family here but our friends have all spread out and some family have too. Thats not our main motivation. We tried to get into a savings program for first time buyers but didn’t qualify…apparently we made too much. What a crock that is when I’m paying over $400 a month in student loans. That doesn’t really matter even then because the cost of living is so darn high here there inlies the motivation. We want to move somewhere warmed and have costs of living lower so we can pay off some debt and get into a house that we want not that we just bought because it was the only one available in our price range.
Our eyes are set on North Carolina and Viriginia. We have friends in Jacksonville, NC and Asheville. More moving there in the next year. Then we have family connectiosn in Fredericksburg, VA.
Tim’s possible job locations and desired hubs that we are looking into are:
Virginia Beach, VA
CLT, NC (farthest southwest I would consider)
We prefer the small down feel and are Ok with a half hour commute.
Tim wants to ride motorcycle as a primary form of transportation. I want to go on walks anytime I feel like it without looking like the Michellan man in snow gear.
So if anyone can tell me what its like to live in any of those areas I would greatly appreciate it. We are looking to move next spring and have a lot of work to do.
