I loved mine! Super easy, don’t have to worry about taking a pill and I had no negative side effects. I got my implant out and got pregnant two weeks later, sadly that pregnancy ended up in miscarriage. I got pregnant again the very next cycle and I’m 7 weeks now!

hd0430 :  I have nexplanon. I like it, no period at all. But I have noticed a diminished sex drive.

I love nexplanon, had it for 3 years and I am on my second implant. I never had a period in three years which is so convenient. I use it mostly for endo symptoms though.

I had it for a year and a half and it wasn’t for me. I had really irregular periods (not have it for three months and then bleed for two weeks straight), and increased breakouts. I don’t regret trying it, and the insertion and removal is not painful at all. The IUD is a better fit for me.

Two of my friends have it though, and LOVE it. Neither of them get their periods any more, and one has the opposite side effect from me – much better skin.

Hi! I got my Nexplanon back in October, and I’ve loved it! I had one period when I stopped my birth control pill (my doctor had me finish out my current pack after he put the implant in), and I haven’t had a single one since. This is apparently the case for about a third of women, and another third will get lighter periods.

I’ve never had any side effects to birth control either, and it’s been about the same with the implant. The only real change I noticed was that the pill, with it two different hormones, kept my acne a bit more under control, so as my body adjusted to the implant, I had a few more outbreaks. Once my hormone levels regulated, it went back to normal, and I’ve gone back to my same old skincare regimen (washing with Cerave and moisturizing with Paula’s Choice once daily).

I’ve had no weight gain at all, no mood swings (confirmed by my SO, lol), no headaches or nausea or anything. It’s possible it’s had an ever so slight effect on my sex drive, but it might also be that life has lowered it just a bit. Hard to say.

Insertion was a breeze. The doctor numbed the area and inserted it in minutes. Recovery was easy. My arm was sore for about a week, and I just had to be careful my boyfriend didn’t put his entire weight on it leaning on me or something. I never even notice it’s there now!

If you have any questions, I’m happy to try to answer them!

I have a Nexplanon and have had it for a year! I actually have regular periods (I was hoping they would go away, but nope) and I’ve noticed a bit more acne/bit less sex drive, but all of these are small inconveniences for me and are totally worth it in my opinion.

I LOVE my Nexplanon! I have no fear of getting pregnant anymore because it’s the single most effective hormonal birth control on the market, and because it’s in my arm I never have to worry about it getting dislodged or not working properly.

If you get it and you hate it they can always take it out, although most doctors will make you wait a few months to get used to the symptoms.

I went from nuva ring to nexplanon and ended up getting nexplanon out after like 6 months? Apparently my body really needs estrogen, which nexplanon does not have, and I had the worst acne of my life that nothing could tame. But i’ve also been on BC since I was 16, and mild acne before that. I only wash my face like once a day with oxy pads typically and have minimal acne on the ring.

hd0430 :  As long as I stay on top of washing my face, I don’t have an issue, but if I let it go for more than a few days I am guaranteed to have face visitors lol 😉

It is definitely something to consider, but it’s also only one symptom that some people never get 🙂

Mine just expired and I’m getting another one! My periods regulated within just a few months and then disappeared after the 6 month mark. They came back about four months ago and have been regular again. Before Nexplanon my periods were almost a month long and very heavy so Nexplanon has been a god send. I have noticed a slight change in my sex drive but the pros have tremendously outweighed the cons.

I got mine in December and I love it! I don’t have a regular period anymore and I haven’t experienced any negative side effects. I love not having to worry about making sure I always have access to my pills and making sure to take them at the same time every day, etc.

I am currently in the process of having mine removed. I had it fitted in November. Bled none stop near enough since. 🙁 they tried putting my on the pill to stop the bleeding for two months, which worked, but then as soon as I finished the pill it started again. So I haven’t had a great experience. Super effective as birth control though as constant bleeding means I wasn’t in the mood to do it!!!
