Nine6Fifteen :  I had nexplanon for years. I hated it. I will preface this by saying I think my Dr. inserted it incorrectly, because I had major bruising after implantation, but I had it checked afterwards and they said it was where it was supposed to be so I left it. If you work out at all whichever arm you inserted that into will always be weaker. I had a really hard time using equal weights on my right and left arm. Also it was really sensitive for example having your blood pressure taken. You have to tell them to put it in your other arm, but sometimes I’d forget and it was so painful(i mean those hurt anyways, imagine with something in your arm) and everytime my dog would brush against it it would hurt. Final complaint is it creeped me out. It is long and it moves if you push on it.. .just wasn’t my thing. I could deal with all of that but my final straw was when I wouldn’t stop bleeding for almost a month and a half. I had it taken out and went back on the pill. I’ve never been happier. I’m not really forgetful about the pill, but it does make me a grouch at times. I still prefer grouchy to arm pain. I’ve known people that didn’t have as many problems as I did though and I’m convinced the way it was inserted had something to do with it. Make sure your doctor does a lot of them 🙂

I have had Nexplanon for a year in October and I LOVE it.

I have a fast paced life and I had trouble remembering to regularly take my pill – no good! So I was on the look out for a better option. Insertion was easy. My OBGYN numbed the area with a local anesthatic and I only felt a little pressure when the implant itself was inserted.

Since insertion I have not had a single period. WOW.

The only real negative side-effect I’ve noticed is weight gain but I hesitate to list it as a side-effect since 1) I’ve hit a dip in metabolism since hitting 25 2) I have been stress eating because of the wedding.

You can always have the Nexplanon removed if it doesn’t work for you!
