I also have Nexplanon but I’ve had it less time.  My gyno emphasized over and over when I was having it put in that my periods would be very irregular.  I’m having my first one in six months now.  My understanding with the “brown” is that it is older blood

I experienced this, but I definitely didn’t label it a problem  Some women simply stop getting their periods while on Nexplanon/Implanon, especially if they used another progesterone BC first (like the mini-pill or Depo). When I first used Depo, I had period like the one you described. The next month, it was a little lighter and a little shorter. By my next injection I had no period at all.

I have the Mirena IUD and experience this every 4-5 months. This is the only “period”like thing I get. I will be switching to Nexplanon in March though so good to know that I will likely experience the same thing.

Oh I will also add this startedat the end my last Mirena IUD I had for 4.5 years and then since I had it replaced in Augustof last year.

I just had my third implant put in 2 weeks ago. The first two were Implanon and this is one is Nexplanon. My first implant I had no periods. Second, I averaged one period per year. It would be as you described until recently, they were much longer and more frequent. I wasn’t due to change it until March but decided to in January Because it seemed to be wearing off.
