MrsSapphireTopaz : I know right, I’ve never thought much about it, I do usually RSVP however the invite says, but fi and I knew going in that we werent going to get a lot of rsvps. The original plan was to call the late responders, but seriously it’s so many people, that I’ve decided not to worry. We already paid the caterer and set a number, doing we have extra food, that’s life.
OMG, can I complain about a sister? My sister complained to my mom yesterday that my wedding plans are getting too elaborate. Why? Because we don’t have attendants, and I got the bright idea last week that it might be nice if the nieces all dropped flowers in the 10 ft between the ring ceremony room and the reception room. Seriously, they rooms are across a hallway and this sister has no children and isn’t involved at all. But I mentioned this idea to her and she disagreed and I ignored her and asked the sisters who have kids what they thought. They like the idea.
So since she was being ignored, my sister complained to mom, who called me and talked to me about making sure I had reasonable expectations for the reception. TBH, I laughed a bit and explained why I ignored my sister’s objection. Basically, her only objection is that it’s too late to ask my nieces to do this. But IDK, to me, it’s a small thing. I’m not asking them to dress differently, just get up and throw petals after the ceremony is over. I know the girls would find it fun and remembering. TBH, if it doesnt work, i dont particularly care. It’s not an integral part of anything, just something I thought the kids would get a kick out of and a nod to the traditional flower girl thing we aren’t doing.
My only concern is how to get the girls to keep the petals and not throw them during the ceremony.. .
In any case, I had a productive Sunday. Net with the caterer today to finalize the menu. Gave out a few invites from my hand-deliver stack that i kept forgeting at home. Met with parents to discuss logistics and setup and take down. Bought boxes for the move to fi’s place. Met up with an old friend for a chat (one of the hand deliver invites)and ended up visiting for 3 hours.
You see, the problem with watching all these wedding dance Youtube videos is that I now kind of want a video. I didn’t want one, so we just booked a photographer. Now, my brother in law is a professional photographer and over to photograph the wedding. I’m considering asking him to man the tripod and video the ring ceremony and beginning of the reception(welcome, dances, cake) and maybe the send off at the end. I don’t want him to have to work during the reception, but he’s pretty ADD and gets bored so easily, I wonder if he would welcome me asking this as a favor as long as its not during the food and fun parts of the reception.
eurasianbee : it’s just such a wonderful peice of music. I mean, I know it’s a movie score from a dinosaur movie, but it’s just so beautiful.
