If you haven’t heard already, there is a scandal going on currently in the NFL over a Miami Dolphins football player bullying a fellow teammate.
When we say bullying, we’re talking racist slurs, demands of money and purchases, and death threats (made through voicemails).
Here’s a more in depth article: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/incognito-threatened-martin-text-voicemails-report-article-1.1506090
This player, Incognito, has been suspended. Nope, not fired. Suspended.
I’m on fire about this right now in due to a “friend” on Facebook laughing about the situation, claiming that it’s all apart of the job.
Why is it that in any other job in the world, you’d be fired immediately? Maybe prosecuted?
Why are these football players immune to so much and how can we stop this madness?
We all know that his behavior does not stop on the field or the locker room.
It’s infuriating to me!

@KateByDesign: This is really, really sad! It’s disgusting that just because this douche is a professional athlete he doesn’t face the same consequences anybody else would have to. And the poor victim had to leave the team! 🙁 Terrible.

@MrsHoneyBear: It wasn’t the first time a player quit because of him either! There are other players stepping forward about the abuse the endured (even in college) as well.

@KateByDesign: I heard about this in the radio this morning and was absolutely disgusted. Thanks for posting the link- I forgot to look it up when I got to work. This guy should be fired so that the other player doesn’t feel the need to leave.

@KateByDesign: Jesus Christ! That’s horrifying! I’ll definitely be watching this one closely… Another disappointing thing coming out of the NFL lately 🙁 🙁

I heard about this and what they said is that if they fire him they still have to pay him his what, 8 million dollar contract? Things like the NFL are covered in red tape and contract’s, so even though ethically and morally it seems wrong, there are only certain behaviors that allow a franchise to terminate a player without paying him. And I”m sorry but if I had to pay someone 8 million dollars because I fired him because he has a big ugly mouth, I wouldn’t fire him either.

Richie Incognito is nothing but a disgusting bully.
I’m glad they suspended him, once the NFL hears all the voicemails/threats I’m sure he’ll be banned from the NFL for the foreseeable future (hopefully!).
I feel bad for Jonathan Martin, not just because he had to put up with the bullying but because he walked away from a career in the NFL that I’m sure he worked his ass off for. I hope another team picks him up for next year so he can get away from the bullshit in Miami.
These men obviously think they are above acting like a TEAM. How is a teammate going to perform well if you don’t treat him like part of the team and respect him. You would think the Dolfins would want to WIN games, not lose.

@MsJ2theZ: I’d REALLY like to know what the behaviors are for firing a player without paying them if racist slurs and death threats don’t fall under that rule.

@KateByDesign: yeah I don’t really know, and it was the announcers on last night’s game talking about it. I could be TOTALLY off base. I think it’s bull either way, and it’s bull that they are paid so much in the first place to be egotistical over testosteroned assholes lol.
