Our small wedding is in two weeks!  😀  We’re having 13 guests.  I had a really hard time finding an indoor venue (a must since it’s February!) that could accomodate a small wedding.  So I had to get creative.  We ended up renting a nice cabin in the mountains.  We’ll have our ceremony, then cake and refreshments, pictures, etc.  Then, we’ll go to dinner at a nice restaurant near the cabin.  And then we’ll have the cabin for the weekend for our honeymoon.  😀   I’ll be wearing a long lace and tulle dress, I did formal invites, we’ll have a nice cake, etc.  So it’s a mix of traditional and non-traditional.

The best part of it all was unintentional, but all of the couples that are coming have also rented cabins in the mountains and will be staying the weekend.  So our romantic Valentine’s Day wedding has turned into a romantic weekend getaway for all of our guests too!  I love it!  🙂

@sarahlouise81:  This is similar to our plan! There is an amphitheater we want to get married at in October and we are renting a large cabin so some of the family can stay there. It’s going to be our back up location if it rains or if by some freak of nature it’s too cold.

Yay! I’m so happy that I came across this thread! We are having a small wedding as well. We are hosting 25 people a local country club. We plan to get married in front of their main area fireplace and hold a buffet dinner reception in a small dining room. Our total cost for the wedding is 4K. We wanted our wedding to be about us and really close family and friends. Also, we wanted to put our money towards a house. We are actually going house hunting today. Wish us luck!

@Merinda1994:

I had a small wedding (40 people) and I’m so happy we went that route. We were able to splurge on things (not only for the wedding but also the honeymoon!) we wouldn’t have been able to do if we had had a larger wedding. The minimums do get you though. We picked out a venue that we were both set on having, but the minimum on a Saturday was 160 people! The minimums on Friday and Sunday were 100. We ended up having a Thursday night wedding, which worked out great for us, but could be problematic for others – it just depends on your guests’ flexibility.

I posted a recap of my small wedding if you’re interested. At the end of the day we were surrounded by the most important people in our lives and only people that we genuinely wanted to be in attendance.

We did this. The town hall in Brugge is beautiful and inexpensive to marry in. We said our vows there in front of family and best friends (less than 30 people). Then we had lunch and dinner and two nice restaurants with them. It was perfect!

Merinda1994:  That’s how I feel lol. I barely have any friends, so it will only be immediate family. Congrats
