Alright, we finally know what we’re having-it’s a boy!! Now comes the hard part-deciding on a nickname.
Darling Husband is adament that we use his name which is Charles Tupper (3 sylable last name). He is named after his dad, great uncle, and great grandfather. I’m okay with this except when it comes to the nickname. Darling Husband goes by Chuck to friends and Chucky to his family. I HATE Chucky and refuse to call him it. My Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law assume that we will call our son Chucky as well as that is what they call Darling Husband. I’ve already told them it isn’t happening but they don’t seem to believe me.
Darling Husband is okay with excuding Chuck and Chucky but now we need to decide what nn we will use and start using it so my IL’s get the mesage. It might sound a bit extreme but my IL’s are really hard to deal with and the name thing is really stressing me out. I was secretly hoping for a girl just so we could avoid this issue. Pregnancy hormones maybe? 🙂
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Chucky? Really? No. I like Charlie.

I agree with you– def not Chuck or Chucky. Charlie is so cute.

@eeniebeans: Thank you…seriously I might go crazy if someone calls our son that.

Definitely Charlie. I hate the name Chucky. I don’t blame you for not wanting to call your son that.

I like Charlie. My brother was a Charles, but went by his middle name Michael until he was in the work force. His nickname became Chaz, so that could be another option if you like it. I still prefer Charlie though 🙂

My 2 cents is that it’s not worth fighting the grandparents on this. So everyone else calls him Charlie and they call him Chucky – that just means he’ll have a special nickname from his Nana and Grandpa. Either it will be the source of a special bond between them, or when he gets old enough, he’ll start rolling his eyes and demanding they call him Charlie. Don’t sweat the small stuff!

@orvis18: Our DH’s have the same first name 🙂 Mine doesn’t use a nickname, couldn’t baby Orvis just be Charles? I just think it’s such a nice name, why not go by it?

I like chase and charlie. Will be good for him to have his own name since the name is already shared with dad, uncle, and grandfather

Charlie! I envision a sweet cheeked baby boy when I hear that name.
I like Chase but it doesn’t really seem like a logical nickname.

I prefer Charlie, though I also like Chaz. Chucky is terrible. I’ve never heard of Chase being a nickname for Charles, but I like it as well.

I would go with Charlie. I know one person whose name is Charles, but he goes by Buddy.

I like Charlie, but I also knew a Chaz once, and like that, too.
