since he will be the third, you could always call him Trey.  I know that’s pretty popular for the third where I’m from

Love Chase and Charlie….but I figure if your in-laws are being weird like this then Charlie will go over best.

I loathe the name Chucky.  I love the TV Show, Chuck, though so it has I have a good feeling with it.  But I like Charlie better.  I’d insist that they call him Charlie.

ugh, sorry but I do not like Chucky at all – makes me think of the horror movie! And I have a horrible cat named Chucky lol so not an appropriate name for a baby IMO.

I love Charlie – adorable! My little brothers name is Charles, I love the name, it’s manly and classic. We sometimes call him “Chaz” too.

Good luck with the IL’s! I know they can be difficult to work with sometimes, especially when it comes to their grandchildren.

Why not just actually call him Charles? I actually like the formal version better than the nicknames!

EDIT; Just saw you said your husband doesn’t like Charles. Which I think is pretty funny considering that is HIS NAME! haha. But anyways, out of the nicknames I like Charlie best.

Charlie! I also like Chase but I never heard it as being a nickname for Charles.

Chucky makes me think of the movie and I hated that stupid doll. Turns out talking dolls are the only think I can’t take in a scary movie.

Charlie is such an adorable name though

I’m not voting because I really like all three, but if forced to I’d say Charlie. The nice thing about Charlie vs the others is that its pretty easy to transition to Charles in a professional setting, but Charlie with friends and family. It would be harder with Chase, I think, because the beginning isn’t the same (just my random opinion). However, I love the name Chase and it’s one of our top 2 boy names, but just on it’s own, not as a nickname.

Tupper is also an awesome name, and really unique without being too weird. I feel like you have to be pretty cool to pull off Tupper ๐Ÿ™‚

Sigh, missed being able to edit my post by about a minute. Wanted to say, because I realized I hadn’t, that of the nicknames listed, Charlie is by far my favorite.

@orvis18:  Ugh, I’m sorry! That would annoy me to no end…my name is Courtney and nobody gets away with calling me Court!

    C-Tupps, yo.

Really, I like Charlie.  Chase is cute, but I hadn’t realized it was a nickname for Charles.

Ps – your husband has the same name as one of the Canadian fathers of confederation (zzzzzzzzzzzz, I know) and there is a street in my old neighbourhood called Charles Tupper Crescent!

I had a Chucky in my class in third grade…everyone called him Chunky because he was a little overweight.  Kids are mean.  Before choosing a name, take the playground test.  Is it really easy to change the nickname into name calling?  If so, avoid.

    I think Charlie works great.

I love Charlie, that is the name we have pickerd out for baby #3,if we are blessed with one.  I definately think this is one to stick your ground on and nickname is something you will hear you child be called over andover and I know if my ILs called one of my kids something that I hated and told them not to use it would piss me off every single time I heard it FOREVER!

Why don’t you call him by his actual name?
