My mother has always called me Petunia. I’m even stored in her phone as such. No idea why, but I’m her Petunia. Ha.

Most of my nicknames come from my name (first or last), but a few past ones don’t:

Spark – My dad had nicknames for all 3 of his kids. He called me this until Jr. High probably.

Mary – In Sunday School, the kids started calling me the Virgin Mary since I tended to be the one in class who knew the answers to Catholic trivia or questions in class (my parents dragged me to Mass every week, unlike many of my classmates).

It started as a joke in elementary school, and eventually got shortened to Mary and was used in a friendly manner. My classmates at Sunday School who didn’t also go to my high school called me that until we graduated (confirmation in junior year).

TravelingBride31 :  I suppose mine is somewhat related to my name… My name is Micaela and when I was born my brother couldn’t pronounce my name and it came out more like “Ma” so I was thereon called Mae. FH sometimes calls me Lady May because he’s heard my family members call me Mae and there is a song he loves that makes him think about me called “Lady May”. Then, that morphed into Maybelline for some family members. Mickey was my nickname in elementary school. My dad has a lot of nick names for me including Shmoopie and Shmoop.

As far as nicknames for FH… we have called eachother a few different things over the years. It started off as not wanting to call eachother “Babe” so we said “Bebe” which turned into “Beahbeah” which turned into “Babis” and I’ve now taken to calling him “Rabis” because one day we were listening to the intro of “You Spin Me Right Round” where the lyrics are “Roooock it roooock it roooock it” and I just said “Raaaabis Raaaabis Raabis” and it stuck. So now we are Rabis and Babis.

Human are weird, haha!

I went through a period of being called Brucey because my last name is Price and Bruce Forsyth presented The Price is Right (British gameshow.)

My brother gets called Chink, we have no idea why, his name doesn’t begin with C or anything remotely sounding like Chink, and his last name is also Price.

My mom calls me “Grace” or “Gracie” when I do something clumsy, but not most of the time so I don’t think it counts as a nickname. My husband has a pet name for me in German that is how I’m saved in his phone and email and he always forgets that people can see it when he copies them on an email, haha. He doesn’t usually call me by it directly, though.

My Mother-In-Law likes to come up with weird nicknames for everyone, which no one really enjoys. When we first got engaged, I heard from my SIL that she was contemplating “Bunny” as a nickname for me. She clearly did not know me yet 😀
